Well, I guess at some time kids grow up to from nappies, feeding chairs, Thomas the Tank and Charmed to have Boyfriends, Police arrests and return to home at 03.00am , along with Neighbours complaining about them playing football in the street at 02.00am, to suddenly being on the brink of 17 years old, and wanting to find a part time job, college and more boyfriends, DVD's and getting a Blackberry (WHY I ask you would a 16year old want one ? )
Anyway, I have been looking out for something sensible around the 1000cc or even less mark for some time now, so as to get her mobile as soon as she hits the age.
I remember what freedom and confidence my first car gave me, not to forget how many more times I inadvertantly got laid because I could get around....... ;D
My neighbour picked up a SWB Lexus Prado diesel a month ago from his boss, and then the daily he had got parked up.... on Tuesday evening he asked me to advertise the Corsa on here for £100, so I told Nicola, and we decided to offer it to her daughter, who immediately fell for it. Unfortunately it is a 1.4i so Insurance will be a bit more, but hopefully it will last a few years, unless she loses, or destroys it.
We bought it for £100, with 79560miles on the clock, 6months MOT and 4 months Tax. If you convert that to cash , I guess it means the car was around £40.00
Today I had 3 tyres replaced with almost new tyres from a local scrappy..... £24 for all 3 fitted, the fronts being Yokahamas.
Allan, the previous owner works in the yard next to the breakers and previously ditched the steels and got a set of VW GTi allos with tyres and fitted those, personally, I do like them....
I also got a full toolkit, jack and tyre lever from a scrapped Corsa, some sun visor clips, and ciggy lighter and a plastic pannel in the boot, FREE from the breakers yard guy.
I also had the car Valeted, as the previous owner is a Skip driver, and the car commuted over a muddy road and stood ina wet muddy yard the last 18 months that he had it.... so DIRTY.
Lastly, I bought a set of Chrome letters from a bike shop for £4 and affixed just behind the doors to spell the name Hannah gave the car the first time she saw it..... LEWI I guess coz it is an "L-Reg"
Here are two pics, before and after......
