Surprisingskoda, just a quick question... should I need a receipt to get a swap on a screwdriver? One of my halfords Pro posidrives has lost 3 of the 4 points in one go The receipt is 80 miles away, hence the question as long as you can see the Halfords logo on the handle? or at least recognise it as ours/theirs... blue cap phillips or yellow cap posidrive? odd for them to go!

Yellow cap Posi... (pic 'cos I'm bored and sorting out my toolkit as I've nothing better to do...) I was quite surprised too, especially as I wasn't even doing anything stupid with it, either (I save old ones for daft things).

we had to write off a sparco strut brace as obsolete though - on the £0.00 list that you HAVE to bin.. I've just looked through the "write off" list at work and believe me, if there was anything worth having it wouldn't be getting binned! ours is all hands free kits for 10 year old phones and the like

Have you got any weird old stock bits knocking around? We've got a full supersprint exhaust (manifold to tailpipe) for a Mk2 Astra GTE and a Mk3 Golf GTi. Nobody will buy them as they're about £650 each so they just sit there gathering dust. Matt

refer back to last page! technically correct but we all ignore it. replaced two this month myself! (btw replacing two when I sell about 314,458 a day isn't that bad ) Sorry That will teach me to read all the way through the thread (which I nearly always do I'll add!) I appreciate your attitude but the guys in my local store weren't as cool Guess I'll have to try all the nearest branches

took far too long to grab yon lists. this is most of the stuff, but not the HUs or Subs etc that are above £15.

I presume the stupidly cheap tools are curse word tools anyway, and not half decent tools at stupid prices?

Just ordered the swivel head ratchets and a stud extractor set. I tried before but it was out of stock at my local one, despite the website saying otherwise. There's a megastore one in Cramlington that claims to have it all in so I'll find out later today.

Ugh, memories of working at Halfords.
The ratchet mechanisms in ratchets aren't covered under warranty because you can buy new ones off the shelf in Halfords for about two quid. The ratchet mechanisms in ratchet spanners aren't covered but as there's no way of you knowing this until you've bought the thing and it's broken, and they don't sell replacement mechanisms, you can take them to trading standards about it (I did this after I quit Halfords, although it was a different store that didn't know me) and eventually they'll cave in.
Was in a Halfords last week after an H4 bulb connector, the MANAGER of all people told me that the only place he had ever seen them for sale was old Lucas suppliers and now that they were gone I'd have trouble finding one. He didn't seem pleased when I told him that it was off a Toyota made in the late 1980s...

Here skodaboss, could you pick up a few of those for me, and I'll give you the money when we meet? There's no halfords near to me, and I don't have the time to go to one at teh minute. Seeing as you love me and all.

Ordered the swivel head ratchet a couple of days ago, and went into the shop to be told they don't put stuff aside and its already gone they MUST put stuff aside if you reserved it online. you have two days to pick it up. if you reserved it online they MUST put it aside with your reservation number on it. If not I'd be getting very upset with the manager and making sure one is located for me. Its a company policy mate.
