Can I get even more off by using my new trade card? Just got offered it today because I went in with my Nissan uniform on. £20 reduces to £19 for the 28 piece ratchet set, for example. So yes, it does work. Some special offers wont work on trade but discounted things do. Usual discount on full price tools is around 20% and other things can be up to 60%, especially filters and bulbs etc. Hey, surprisingskoda, thanks for the links. That ratchet spanners are very tempting but I have doubts about your "no quibble" guarantee. I was behind a guy at Halfords last year who was returning his broken ratchet spanners and Halfords were saying the guarantee didn't cover the actual ratchet mechanism. The guy was getting pretty upset because he claimed they were "Halfords professional" and was told when he bought them that they had a full lifetime guarantee. He had a set of them and three were broken. They were sizes like 12 and 14mm. The manager came over and confirmed that they definitely weren't guaranteed. Guy left in a big rage. So is it true.....the ratchet itself isn't guaranteed?? (Even though at £20 I'd still buy them.) Al iirc its technically correct the ratchet itself isn't covered, but i've never, ever come across a store that doesn't just ignore that idea! especially with an angry customer - they should never have had to get that annoyed in the first place! They're very uncommon to break anyway, but I certainly would have no problems straight-swapping one without question, and also with ringing a store for you should you need it and telling them to do that too glad peeps is liking the stuff. re: toolboxes, just check in-store. damaged ones get sent out on the cheap - i've cleared a couple recently for not too strong a money, but the manager topped it all with 2 boxes (£529.98's worth) for £100 dead. I fixed one before it went out too, and the other should never have been damaged... its a long story. lol.

Yeah, at my store only the manager has ever not taken a ratchet spanner back, but he is an almighty penis who would rather eat a lightbulb than give someone a refund, even when it is 100% justified.
The rest of the staff at our store are like me - as long as the tool hasn't got something welded to it/isnt still wedged in the end of a 6 foot length of scaffolding, we'll swap it for you.

Picked up my ratchet spanners tonight, really cannot go wrong for that price - esentially less than £2 a spanner.

Cheers for that, I'll keep popping in for a look round the local store. I usually drop the wife at morrisons and take the opportunity to go in for a look anyway.
Plus the Blackpool branch seem to have a policy of employing fit checkout girls too, which is a bonus!

picked some up last night, took them an hour to find the reserved item but we got there in the end..... when I picked mine up, the items were 'reserved' in the clearance bins we used to that too - not bother finding stuff. then one day a lady came in looking her two child seats at £110 each. nowhere to be found. ended up she got two £210 seats discounted down to keep her from losing the rag completely. now we find stuff. those stores will soon learn too!

Argh, do I order the ratchets now or wait for codes tomorrow? It'd be nice to get it over £50 like, but what if everyone buys all the cool ratchet stuff by then?

Matt yup, started collecting on tuesday. i have a shelf full of christmas presents even a mp3 player for £3 and curse word like that. gotta pinch it in y'know! we had to write off a sparco strut brace as obsolete though - on the £0.00 list that you HAVE to bin. Tux - you'll not get to use the voucher till the 15th. but, order online (codes tomorrow if i remember!) and then ring up and say ' cant get it yet, change the date to such and such etc? make sure you get them to do it when on the phone... if they don't it wont get done and then it'll get deleted in 3 days.

Worth noting that under the 'lifetime guarantee' the ratchet mechanisms are NOT covered. Only actually breaking a socket is included My 13mm ratchet spanner went all funny and this is what I was told when I took it to be replaced.

Surprisingskoda, just a quick question... should I need a receipt to get a swap on a screwdriver? One of my halfords Pro posidrives has lost 3 of the 4 points in one go The receipt is 80 miles away, hence the question

(btw replacing two when i sell about 314,458 a day isn't that bad )
