Have local authorities nothing better to do? Is this bureaucracy gone mad? This past weekend (due to the good weather) I helped a friend of mine (who has a small collection of 50’s British cars) to rub down his 1958 Austin A35 Van, just a basic ‘flatting off’ for a quick blow over to tidy it up. Were he lives the house is his property, the garage is his property but the bays were you park (resident only bays, which he has two allocated) outside are council/authority owned property. The vehicle we were working on is Road legal (M.O.Ted, Insured and due to age tax exempt). However during the course of the day we receive an official visit from a representative from the local authorities asking us to cease what we are doing. Naturally we ask why, emphasising that we were not going to spray the car here (after the rubbing down we were going to drive it two miles down the road to another friends unit on the local industrial estate, where it would be undercover); we also point out the car is road legal. I was in fact quite surprised members of our local council even worked at weekends but there you go. A few years ago back in 1997 he had a 1959 Humber super snipe estate parked in one of the bays (which was not road legal) which he welded up/rebuilt lower areas etc. over a period of 3 months. The local 'then' council never minded and were very amicable, they stated that providing the neighbours didn’t mind (a couple actually helped him) and that he have a note pined up in the window stating what he was doing then there would be no problem. Naturally due to what happened this weekend his neighbours have also expressed concern as does this mean you are not allowed to ‘maintain ones car’ outside your house in this area? Perhaps the local authorities would prefer everyone to deal in drugs outside their house instead!

As soon as he left we carried on then wipped it down to mates unit.
Trouble is from now on i'm sure a 'beedy litlle eye' will be kept on my friends house now by local authorities. ...what a shame they can't keep a beedy little eye on the theiving scum and drug dealers that live on some of the other estates in Telford

Sometimes i think the whole world is going mad Was speaking to a collegue the other day who had been speaking to an accidents solicitor after their daughter had been fined £60 and 6 points for doing 32.5mph in a 30. Solicitor said that the police and council have been told to get as many cars off the road as possible.

You cant get 6 points for doing 2.5 over the limit. I cant remember exactly the threshold, I think at 30 its 8 mph, but below that its 3 pts + 60 fine automatically.

If your neighbours weren’t happy, why didn’t they come and talk to you about it? Instead of going whining to the council? Because they knew you’d come back with a decent counter-argument, like about their extension. TW4TS. Go and draw a massive cock on their lawn in weedkiller, it’s the only way they’re gonna learn.

I can't help but think that if you had a cloth and T-Cut instead of a sheet of 1200 grit in your hand it would've been different. Bunch of f*ckin' Nazis. GJM - I thought that they had to allow 10% for speedo inaccuracy, meaning that you're only speeding if doing 33mph. Plus, 6 points is absolute b0llocks. It's 3pts and £60 fine. That's what I got for doing the absolutely insane speed of 38mph in a 30 not long ago. I'd advise that your friend looks into this very carefully. Now, where's the famous (and inevitable) Rev9-Rant?! ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D That is brilliant here's another good one if they have a fax machine. Draw a cock on a piece of paper and fax it to them from one of them fax places. As the paper comes out of your machine sellotape it to the other end to make a drum. Voila, endless cocks will spill out of the machine at the other end until it runs out of paper!!

I think it is technically illegal for you to carry out maintainence on a car on the highway(parking bays included). But its such a f*cking stupid law that normally no one will enforce it unless there has been a complaint made

Is this bureaucracy gone mad?....... YES.
I'm not sure about the not being able to do car maintenance on the highway, if the cars road legal i cant see a problem.
Find out who reported you and report them for every little thing they do wrong.

Go and draw a massive cock on their lawn in weedkiller, it’s the only way they’re gonna learn. Or on the bonnet of their car with brown sauce. Also effective.

Then, as soon as he starts to clean off the brown sauce, take lots of photos and ring the council, reporting him for working on his car without permission of the Gestapo.

Isn`t it 6 points for speeding if you`ve not long passed your test ? (Could be wrong though, wife says I usually am ....) Mate of mine got 3 points and £60 for 32 in a 30 by a camera in Bath Plod will normally give you 10% + 3mph - plod driving instructor told me the other night - cameras aren`t so leniant ...

you know what if those F8ckers ever dared to give me speeding points for 2.5mph over i would go apeshit and cause so much fuss that they wouldnt even dare to point a speed camera at me ever again.
this is the point now where us normal regular folk need to stand up for ourselevs... and if some stupid council tosser tried to tell me i cant work on my car i'd tell him to get to F*ck pretty much. world gone mad. time for an uprising.
