Firstly - congrats on trying to make something out of a Passhat, and the IMHO the ugliest of all the Passhats at that. That said, I love the ugliness... because they are ugly and unusual. Secondly - er, in my book NO-ONE's ride should be excluded cos as someone said, its an attitude not an age. Thirdly - they made Mk2 Golfs on that reg plate and they are MOST certainly retro (like our new Mk2 Syncro...yum). Fourthly - who gives a curse word what anyone else thinks. Oh, isn't that the whole "Retro" point? Fifthly - I think it looks bostin. Sixthly - Think of all the beer you could carry in one of dem!! Seventhly - you don't need a tent just sleep in the back Eighthly - no fairy lights or grp curse word from Halfords please. Although it might be fun to so adorn the matt black Marina with it Ninthly - It would give folks the right idea that we are 1) a bit hard up 2) love oddball cars and 3) stick two-fingers up at the whole Classick Car brigade Tenthly - Just bring it!!! ;D Exactly, i like it, its subtle but says f**k you. I'm feeling the need for some moondisk shizzle! What about a satin black bonnet?

i did toy with moondisks but i changed my mind and went black steels. ive also been toying with the idea of a black bonnet....but i see loads of modified cars with them on, which puts me off slightly, but i as I'm selling it soon, id rather someone had a blank canvas to start with should sell a lot quicker then!

Fablon, thin band whitewalls and maybe a roofrack. Sorted. I'm voting yes, even without the above mods ....and not just because it's running Rmad stickers!

i love the fact that there's no rules about what goes on this forum.... i've posted pictures of mk3 golfs and had a favourable response (not least from our beloved mk3 golf perv HoTWire!) yet they can be bought on a 'P' plate....... same as our mondeo! it's about the look, the attitude, the don't give a fugg as our bo11ox would say... my rocco is on a B plate, the no-prefix would have that jumped off the stand, yet i reckon it's got a whole lot of retroness going for it (not least the fusty smell from the seats). how about E30 BMWs - not everyone's cup of tea but certainly a retro thang. as for the pisrat - i like it's style so i'm a yay EDIT - ed, if all you're missing is an engine, i've got one sat in my fastback - it's about the only thing that works and you're welcome to borrow it! 1600 with 356 carbs, not 'big' but it shifts a bit

I say bring it. I am hopefully bringing the Nymph which could be considered more Kit car then Retro car. So without going into a big debate about what a Retro car is I reckon its best to just let the Passat onto the stand. It looks cool anyway so it will fit in.

IMHO (of course): lose the Passat badge off of the bootlid, and paint all the rubbing strips body colour. It shocks me to say it- i'm not a big fan of whitewalls- but they would work really well
As for the stand- i voted 'yes'

Hmm, that stirred things up a bit - and I was only being sarcastic . I think the Passat is getting there, and along the right lines. Would look cool with some thin whitewalls against the black steels, and maybe some stickers in the rear windows. Oh, and a roofrack with a rusty barrel on it . I don't think cars over a certain age or prefix etc should not be allowed or included - that was meant as a dig at someone who has a habit of annoying me with some of their flippant and arrogant comments - I wouldn't expect my daily Vento to be allowed onto the stand; however i'm trying to create something a bit different to all the other modded MK3's out there, on a budget, whilst maintaining two other cars which I consider to be 'retro'. I personally like the whole 'retro' scene as I got fed up of all the 'bling' that was starting to appear, and all the rich folk who jump onto the bandwagon and throw lots of cash at their cars in order to 'fit-in' to the scene. I personally couldn't keep up or afford to do that, so decided to go a different way which keeps me happy, lets all the 'Kev's' get on with their bling, and allows me to chill out and watch the world go by, happy in the knowledge i've not spent a lot of money trying to keep up with the latest trends, have cars that look a bit different to the norm and that i've done the work myself. Result = a much happier, chilled and contented Daniel

If only everything in life was as cool as a retro VW racer.
