... a very early limited edition Sierra, built with a Cosworth body and 1.6 pinto engine? Apparently they only made 20, 10 for the UK and 10 for Germany, and apparently a guy I know has a 43k minter.... Of course, it could just be a badly modded 80s scally-mobile with lolzworthy 'provenance', but I gave him the benefit of the doubt

3 door sierras were quite common on the continent and you can still see the odd one kicking about over here but most get turned into badly made cossie replicas. When I was at school I worked in a local scrappy that had a 1.3 5 door come in,its the only one I have ever seen in my life.

By 'Cosworth body' do you mean the full Cosworth bodykit or do you just mean the 3 door shape?

Definately base and I think L spec 3 doors were available over here. Same shape as a 3 door cossie. I remember selling a red 1.3 one late eighties.

If you just mean the 3 door shape, it was available all through the mk1's run, base models or motobility cars only though, heres my old one, most of the survivors will have had 3 door cossie kits added to em by now.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

By 'Cosworth body' do you mean the full Cosworth bodykit or do you just mean the 3 door shape? On reflection, he probably just meant the 3-door body, it may or may not have a bodykit. He's owned it from new, and he's definitely not the wannabe-Cossie type It just puzzled me that he insisted it was part of a limited run of 20, I couldn't work out what would make it so special. Oh, and apparently it's a 'factory over-bored' 1.4, not a 1.6. I'm actually quite eager to see it now, it'll probably turn out to be a Zakspeed prototype or something.... ;D ;D

There used to be a base-spec 1.6 3-door round my way. The owner probably sold it on eBay for £2.7m to someone who wanted to build a Cosworth rep.

3 doors are still cheap to buy, 500 quid will get you a clean one if you look around, they last a hell of a lot better than things like cortinas ever did.

I thought the 3 doors were only available as 1.3s. Most of them will have perspex rear windows by now as the glass ones were selling for more than the price of the rest of the car, at one point.

Damn, i was hoping for a business oportunity, as they're plentiful here ... We even got 3 door mk2s. There's a mint one with an injected dohc at a local ford dealership, only 1500€... and when i say mint, i do mean mint. To bad i'm broke as usual....

My dad brought an A reg 1,6L 3dr brand new. He chopped it in after 3 years for a D reg Mk1 orion and after that he used to get loads of seirras as hire cars and recon'd that even teh 2.0 GLSi's didn't drive as nice as his old 3dr
