Is a rover turbo coupe thing?
guy said his one had about 220bhp, turns out to be about as fast as my cortina although i was having more traction problems than he was (i sooo need a welded diff or a LSD if a FWD car can pull away faster than me)
he was impressed though, had a lil chat after ;D ;D

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

It was the fastest ever production Rover and as the Rover name is unlikely to ressurected any time soon I doubt it will lose that CROWN 0-60 in 6.2 seconds and 150mph top whack. It was codenamed tomcat for a reason Saying that though I would rather have either a SD1 Vitesse or one of those modern 75 V8's (the 75 is only supposed to do 149mph but it is probably quicker than a coupe) the two fastest RWD Rovers.

At the time I am sure the 220 turbo held the CROWN of "Fastest FWD Production Car", a quick car none the less, chassis sure as hell can't handle the power though!
A mate of mine has got a 216 coupe with a knackered D-series engine, hes just picked up a rotten tomcat and is in the process of swapping the engines. He drives like a fruit loop so I reckon the car will last all of a week before he bins it ;D

We're building one up as a racecar at college. Forged pistons, steel conrods, Motronic ECU, coilovers, Compomotive MOs... It does exactly 0mph, and that looks to be about the best it will ever do Whilst it has a Motronic ECU, no one took into account how much it costs to map. Which is a lot. College says no to more money

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

i would highly recommend welding the diff! we welded the diff on a friends volvo 360 glt, and it did wonders for traction (as well and drifting). Parking in a supermarket car park usually draws some attention though!

Tomcat comes from the design of the roof as it vaguly resembles the F16 tomcat fighter jet, rover changed the name at the last minute due to insurance groupings being so high.

They're quick if you can keep them together for long enough. They handle REALLY bad though. The 620ti is the better car to have if you don't mind the grandad image.

I had a non turbo model, that suffered from horrid torque steer and lack of feedback through the wheel. It was great fun though and well built.

the t-series turbo runs just shy of 200brake. 220-230 is fairly easily achived, t28 turbo, larger front mount intercooler, exhaust etc. anything after that is limited by the rover MEMS ecu, so means aftermarket systems. The 600ti was the only model to come with an LSD as standard. That said, the Tseries has been taken to cira 500brake, but not cheaply!!

I had one and it was a good car. It seemed a lot faster than my current Saab 9000 (same power), but also felt as if the car was just too fast for what it was designed for. Whereby I don't even know I'm doing silly speeds in the Saab, the Rover didnt exactly inspire confidence at higher speeds. As for the 620 ti grandad image i loved that. i even took the alloys of and put steelies on. A real wolf in sheeps clothing.

The 220 Turbo has an LSD too, Tiffany Dell mentioned it. the 220 turbo didnt from the factory. the only PG1 gearbox with a Torsen diff from the factory was fitted in the Ti. Many have had their boxes robbed for this very reason. The diff bearing cage is alittle weak though

You can get 230bhp with just a chip apparently, so with other bits and bobs 250 can't be that hard to get?

The standard intercooler is pretty tiny too. My Ti saw intake temps tripping my gauge out at 50degC with the stock ic To see 230bhp, you'd need more than just boost cut removal, despite what MOTOBUILD might say, and stock internals become questionable above 13/14psi

Will it just be to remove the boost cut then?
