A Yamaha MS50! I thought I'd dive into the world of 2 wheels with something interesting. I only do about 6 miles driving a day, the Lex hardly warms up, not good for it really, so I thought I'd save some money and poot around on a scoot. No real plans yet, I wouldn't know where to start! Probably just satin black the yellow bits!

Reminds me of one of my Mum's bikes, from 1978-ish Suzuki OR50 Mums one was Black too. Perfectly suited to the kitchen

I dunarf like that VIP...... excellent purchase. The boso look ( from that one pictured ) gets my vote if it turns out anywhere near as nutzzorz as that one.

Another vote for some boso styling. Though with all that glassfibre and extra metal it might be quicker to walk.

Ok, my indicators are pathetic.
Sometimes they flash a couple of times, slowly, and then stay on, other times they stay on all the time.
All four bulbs work, it runs a 6v battery. Any tips/ideas?

rusty contacts, loads of wd40 on the wire/earths and if that improves it, whip out the sandpaper and clean the contacts. also pull apart the plastic connectors/bullets and wd40 them too.
or just indicate with you hands instead.

I checked across the battery with a multimeter, and its giving off 5.9v, even with the engine rpm wound up, so I'm guessing the magneto is dead and its not charging or supplying enough to work the indicators correctly!

My rusty exhaust snapped a few weeks ago, right at the manifold joint. A replacement seems non existant, and a custom made job is big money. Seems the bike is resigned to the scrap heap!

How much did Yamaha change there exhaust flanges over the years?
Could something newer/more available be adapted?

I have no idea, this was my first bike, and I'm not versed in the 2-wheeled world at all!
