And on thursday this will be collected from the docks; And I cant wait ;D. The 2 pics above and the fact its a 1960 F100 is all I know about it as I bought it on a whim and no nothing about Fords, front engined cars, pick-up trucks or Americans as all my previous experience is with building and restoring VW's. So if you have any pics you would like to share for inspiration please post them here as I still have no idea what I'm going to do with it. Here are a few to start;; I will post more pics of the actual truck when it gets here. Cheers, Dave

Total price is between me and the cheque book but we are looking at about £3500 to my door. Still need to get it on the road once here and the other associated costs but not looking too expensive for so much steel.
One thing I need to work out and you guys may be able to help.
Will this need SVA'd given that it wont be type approved for UK?
Dave

rough costs for ppl are, cost of car in dollars, add shippin which is around a $2k (varies), then add import duty which is around 1.5% to that total, then to that total add vat 17.5%, convert to sterling.
with the sva I'm not sure, as sometimes tey have to go through a few chnges, lights fuel lines etc, but other times if the car was built with red flashers then thats how it stays.
ontopic what a great truck! hope it all goes smoothly for you!

I brought over a 1960 splitty panel a few years ago (I run the route 9 autos as seen in my sig) so I know the rears can stay red flashers and fronts can flash white if need be but I'm pretty sure the orange side lights need changing and as the model wont show on the computer (I have enough hassle with VW's) I was just curious how it would MOT.
Guess we will find out.
Dave.

i cant remember the order it goes in now, when you register it. i will have a chat with my mate and let you know tho, and I'm also pretty sure you can drive it as is unregisterd for upto 6 months aslong as the car conforms to its countrys regs, so in your case f all! and has relevant insurance. have you loked on the dvla website?
ive sent alot out to the states, but not got around to importing any cars yet, also looked into importing american boats.

The order is insure on chassis number, MOT then register/tax.
The problem I will have is at the MOT station when they try to find the model on the computer to start the test, this wont appear as it was never sold in the UK. Thats why I'm wondering if an SVA will be needed.

ah i see, worth just giving your local mot tester a call, there maybe a way they can input the information they have on the truck to add it? must be a tester on here somewhere??

It can't need an SVA surely? I can see it failing on 'requires padding and radiused edges to MASSIVE GRILLE' if so.
