I need some ideas and inspiration for my new car, and I hope this is the right place. It was a 520, with a broken rocker, 3mm groves in the camshaft and no MOT left. Now a bored 320 engine with oversized 2.5 pistons, 2.3 rods, a 2.5 head and everything else 2.5, 'cept the ecu which is a stock 2.0 one... Any recomendations one how to get a little bit more go from the engine? The swap is almost done, "only" the wiring left. The plans are yellow headlights, all-red tailights and maybe paint all the chrome black. Needs to be closer to the ground in the front too, although it's a shame to cut the springs as they're legal. I've been thinking about some chevrolet/GM rims, as they're cheap and plentiful and usually has loads of positive ET, my friend has 10x15 steelies with mad ET on his buick, maybe he'll sell them...

What you want is a 540i engine from the e34. Will sound like this:
And go like stink. E28's are awesome.

haha, nope but with a decat and a stainless system i reckon it would be well on its way towards that sound. Id love to build an e28 540i one day.

The E28 is sweet looks just right IMO, black rims always look good on black cars! Nice collection of Sierra too

Get a decent ECU and get a different front bumper and that thing will look sweet and go like stink. I want an E28, might have to be what I go for next... how about a 538i?! alpina

I'm another recent E28 convert, yours is definitely better looking than mine though! For good accurate technical advice specific to the E28 try either... forum.bmw5.co.uk/viewforum.phpor mye28.com/I hope to see more of your car as it progresses!

Well today I broke my beemer. We've set the ignition by ear and the car backfired a bit when starting but drove good enough, i'd have to get it to a workshop to get it emission papers anyway, so I reccon it was good enough. After some new oil (the old oil was fine) and a test drive resulting in a broken coolant hose the car suddenly decided to mix the water with the oil, and put A LOT of pressure in the cooling system when trying to start it. I am hoping it's just the headgasket, and knowing the last guy who owned the engine it wouldn't surprise me if the gasket was reused last time the head was off... So wish me luck, i'll probably take the head off tommorrow. The E28 is sweet looks just right IMO, black rims always look good on black cars! Nice collection of Sierra too Thanks! The red one's sold, but there's a crashed 3-door in the garage waiting for some attention. I'm a bit of a ford-guy, but decided to try something different for a change, the red one being my 6th sierra I decided to take a break. haha, nope but with a decat and a stainless system I reckon it would be well on its way towards that sound. Id love to build an e28 540i one day. I'd love one too, but I reccon it's a bit over my budget... I've been thinking about something along the lines of a turbo'd 3.5. But the e28 being closest to driveability of the jalopys in my car park it'll have to wait until i'm able to afford both the engine, everything else I need, and something cheap and rwd enough for my taste to drive whilst building it. (or god forbid, finish another project) steveh1975: Thanks for the links. I think i'd rather have your's as mine is in a very very sorry state... ALL the electrics are properly curse word, and everything is very half-assed. claymore: it looked great in white! needabeetle: There's a guy building alpina bumpers in sweden, I think they were 200€ a piece. I might buy one later on, but it's not my number one priority right now... The 2.5 ecus are almost as expensive as a chip so i'll probably just buy a zonechip or something. Some really lousy pictures taken with my sorry excuse for a camera mobile and which have nothing to do with this conversation a 2.5 going in... a LOW sierra at a local drift event, the curse word phone photo doesn't do it justice, it was amazing ;D I wish I took a picture of the hood hinges, the rear of the hinge was unscrewed and the bolt screwed back in on top of the hinge. Tramp. There was also a widened mk1 capri, and a ascona 400. I still don't understand why i didn't take pictures of 'em...

It always good to take a break after my last 4 XR's I brought a Volvo 480 Turbo great car (but I'm back with ford now! ;D ) a LOW sierra at a local drift event, the curse word phone photo doesn't do it justice, it was amazing ;D That is quite possibly the best modified Sierra ever.
