Well the deal is done, the CX estate has been driven away (hopefully it made it to its destination, but i havent heard from him yet ) Anyway, I got new dyane, me likey, a lot. First, big well done to 'spanners' of this electronic parish, this is one of the very few non-standard cars i've driven that is this useable and good to drive. Whats non standard about it i hear you ask, well the ami super 4 speed gearbox and the 1300cc flat four engine really. Its got bigger brakes and better suspenders to keep it all together too. So standard dyane power output = about 32bhp this one should have nearer to about 65bhp, not a big difference but enough to make this a total hoot to drive. Sounds a bit like a scooby when you give it some too, nice. Here It is........ and again........ Jon had warned me not to drive it like a normal dyane, although you can, up to a point, its just that after that point it bites you on the bum and runs away giggling. Reasons, a bit front heavy and not as much suspension articulation due to the AntiRollBar which is not normally fitted, But its got good grip and steers nicely even with knackered king-pins Have another picture.......... And yes, it needs to be a bit lower at the back, this pic just confirms it. Last but not least, rather clever self supporing bonnet...... All in all, I'm a happy bunny, and I'm amazed at how well it goes, its amazing, just leave it in 3rd and roll on and off, the really big difference is torque it apppears, torque is not only your friend but also in a lighter car than this engine was originally housed in, it will quite happily accelerate uphill in 3rd.

Oh, and now, who wants to band me up some of the standard steels?? Bit more wide-ness of rubber and bit lower all round should do it I think.

Urm i don't fancy that swap, the wheels on it are going back to spanners, as are the seats, I'm going to swap it all out next week sometime hopefully.
Did i mention it tries to spin the wheels in second out of slow corners (if you drive like a tit that is, which i wont be doing much as i don't wanna break the gearbox)
I have almost remembered where the gears all are now, its not the same as a standard one, which makes it interesting.

so its basically a james bond spec 2cv type thing then.. I always wanted one with an alfasud 1.5 flat 4 in but never managed to get the bits together.. plus it would have killed me I think

So this is a GSA engine then? As GSA's cruise very nicely with their 1.3 engines this must indeed go very well :-)

Yes Siert GSA engine, this is one of the early pre- eco units so has proper cam profiles:)

Well, I've put new tyres on the front, and painted the steel wheels black. When the new rear tyres arrive next week i shall do the back sthe same and droip it a bit more. I've learnt a tip for upgrading the dampers, so may have a go at that too. Me and a mate did the stop-watch 0-60 times the other evening, just over 10 seconds, so shaved over 20 seconds off the standard cars time New pics to follow when wheels done.

Drove this car last night, its the most fun Ive ever had in a car with only 65BHP, you can sit at seventy, then, when hot hatches attempt to overtake, accelerate up to a ton with no problems at all, leaving some very confused and amazed faces in the rear view mirror, Top fun.
I'm a little concerened I may have broken it though...

it will be fine, and if it aint, spare engine, I'm just servicing it now And yes that was a laugh a minute, I would imagine that being blown off by a Dyane is bad enough but by one in which a bloke is wearing a skirt and waving at them is probably a bit too much. (yes it was me dressed in a skirt and there was avery good and plausible reason for it and yes i was drunk) just to clear that up.

Its a bit tricky to get the back up far enough and get those two support pole clipped in, one of the top poles is bent (my fault) but it works OK it the highest point one i think.
The lower skirt (plasticy bit) should be at floor level just about where it meets the normal cqanvas and you peg that outside to give an area for any rain to run off away from tent.
Any help?
