give me about an hour and we shall see,
at this stage i doubt any damage at all.
Pulled all the plugs, all healthy. Changed dizzy cap and rotor arm as they were horrid and old and corroded, cleaned out the carb and jets, dropped the oil (all clean and nothing on the magnetic sump plug) so all looking good so far.
I think this was a carb related problem by the way. Update soon.

I thought it seemed to slow down slightly before it started misfiring, and I couldnt decide whether it was because we were going up the hill, as no other hills seemed to affect its top speed, so thats when I lifted off, (because I was scared of breaking summat thats not mine) and thats when the misfire became apparent. what sort of rpm is it pulling at about 95? I did hold it there quite a while chasing whatever it was i was chasing...

i have no clue what RPM its doing at 95, but i shall be wanging a GS rev counter on sometime soon, after i have sorted out the cooling fan that exploded when my fractured numberplate gave up the ghost and took it out damn thing.
And Yes it was a partially blocked jet causing yesterdays troubles, so thats good, nothing serious.
Alan105, you have no idea the childish satisfaction i get 'playing' with bland moderns when driving this thing:)

This thing was a bit of a pimped tart at the weekend and I had the pleasure of a stint behind the wheel too, and for most of it, I was screaming YAAAHOOOOOO!!! It is simply incredible how much fun it is. With an almost-Subaru-esque flat-four beat, it just simply begs to be driven hard until it runs out of gears! (I went for fifth and got very confused when I couldn't find it!)
Oddly, today, I got to drive a GS Pallas with the very same engine in it - that is also great fun and much nippier than I expected. At £600, I wish I had a few quid so I could snap it up! Anyone want to buy a Merc?!

Matt, what does it handle like in the dry? does it still push on like it did in the wet? I never tried to take it to the limits round the lanes, so never really felt what it was capable of, but i reckon a dab more negative on the front would help it in the dry, or maybe play with toe in/out, I also wonder whther that ARB is helping or not, it seemed to me it stayed flat and ran wide, so I wonder if it was able to roll more whether the wheels would remain stuck to the road better?

Its OK in the dry, but only ok. Best bet is go in a bit slower than you would in normal 2CV, apex then give it the beans. Or provoke lift off oversteer but thats a bit damn drastic on the roads  I actually think it might handle a bit better without the ARB but the super chassis is quite low at the front under the steering rack and with more movement allowed it would scrape as much as yours does A bit of neg camber on the wheels might help though. |

Take the ARB off at your peril, with the extra weight of that lump up front it makes it handle like a jellyfish on acid riding a skateboard! I tried it without on the original one and it was even worse.  |
