I had to check this wasn't an April fools like the reports that either 1. Oldsmobile brand had been sold to Toyota 2. AMC was coming back, financed by some Union money... but really. I read in one of the Sunday papers motoring bit that "previously unknown in the UK" Dacia Motors are launching their rance of hatchbacks in the UK later this year. Already selling well in the rest of the EU we can expect to see them here for the motor show I guess. According to the article Dacia has gone frm 38th best selling brand in france to 9th best seller in the three years since the French launch.... Sadly not Dacia Denems and Dusters but this sort of thing: The observant will have noticed that it carries a Renault logo on the nose. This is because the Sandero is sold through Renault dealers in France. Or something. I can nly find quite small pics of the Dacia badged version And the Logan Thats a van based on the Logan So the DVLA search that turns up like 3 Dacias in the whole of the UK could start getting some more in it... not retro but I thought it was interesting

Didn't Dacia do a WRC version of one of their cars but never competed for whatever reason. Will try and find a picture. Edit:

Fugly cars but good to see a small-ish car company doing well.

we get the Dacia's too.
The Logan MPV is a big 7 seater car for not much money, you can buy a 103 bhp 1.6 16V 7 seater for under €15.000.
It's not the prettiest car in the world, it's not the best car in the world, but it's deffo a good car for its money.

I see a fair number of them here in France, iirc, the Logan is about the cheapest new car available here starting at about 7.5k euros.

Looks pretty honest, which is good..... not a new car fan at all in terms of styling but that's fairly unoffensive yet not too bland. Not sure why so many manufacturers think whacking a big grille on the front is the thing to do though? As I understood it a while back, Dacia are quite happy to be associated with Renault and as Renault tries to pitch itself a little further upmarket, Dacia were intending to take the lower end of the market, replacing the budget 'daddy bought it me to take to university' Clio Campus-type models. They make no secrets about using Renault engines in some models. Plus, good news for us: In 15 years time we'll be able to pick up a Dacia for £250, bodge the arches up with filler, spray it matt black and use it till the tax runs out

The Logan's hoooooj in Africa. For Burgeoning economies this thing makes far more sense than the Nano.

Why has the van got a rear door? Is it available as an MPV too?

Yeah the logan has been selling well in russia as well - seeing how it's priced as similar levels to ladas. Some of the engineering that goes into making it low-cost is simply awesome.

The reason they sell in France is that they're *really* cheap - under £2k if I remember.

we sell them in the company, i love them ,as they are cheap, good quality and simple... also, there is a Cup-Version available : you can buy a fully race-prepped Dacia for ~ 12.000 Euros... and here is the latest Dacia ad : de.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ9aSE3M_XA ;D we have sold about 70 Dacias; they sell to list price and people have to wait for these cars...

The reason they sell in France is that they're *really* cheap - under £2k if I remember. Sadly not. If they were, id be making a nice living buying them up and shipping them to africa. There were murmers about renault / dacia / some other old semi-related brand launching a new basic 3 and 5-door hatch in places like poland and chezkzkxsolvakia for around 4k euros, but I don't know if anything ever came of that.
