For the past month we've been busy playing with 3/4" wide wooden bricks The day we moved in the room looked like this and remained unchanged until March this year The old floor Mmmmm And although the room isn't yet finished at least the reclaimed floor and fire place is done. Reburbing all the bricks is not something I ever wish to do again, now we just have to let the varnish dry before we can get back into the kitchen ;D Sorry about the poors pics, I'm tired

Madman! I've just sanded and varnished some normal wood floorboards and that was a big enough pain in the . Matt

That's a massive improvement! Laminate flooring (I'm guessing that's what it was?) is one of the travellerest things in the world if it's not done right. Nicely done. ;D

at 49 years of age my wifee bought me a chop saw ,
I have never done anysort of woodwork before
I have just replaced all our skirting and architrave downstairs and put a daido rail in the dining room ( did coving for the first time too )
its amazing what a good feeling you get when you step back and say ,
(as you should be right now )
" I did that and it looks damn good "

Thanks for the kind words, it is very satisfying to stand back and think "yep I like that and I did it"
I've made a start on the floating oak book shelves for the alcove, still a lot of work to do on them but I'll gets some wip pics when internet at home is fixed

Looking nice! Funny how things come around again isn't it? Personally I'd have painted the skirting before fitting but then I'm poo at cutting in or masking.
