Got this along with the Goldstar I picked up the other day Quite a cool looking thing.... Going to restore it and find something cool to put it on Its a: BAsically a cylemotor that attaches to the seatpost of a pushbike and then runs on the rear tyre to propel the bike along ;D You can see the seatpost mounting and adjustment clamps in the top of the picture and the knurled drive off the crank Very simple design so hopefully should make a sweet little fairground cruiser when its all cleaned up Theres a handlebar mounted speed control too Just need something period to mount it to now ;D

interesting find!
where did you pick it up? and if you don't mind me asking, how much for? (or praps how much is it worth is a better question?)
I'm about to build up my old bike I had at high school (though I suppose thats only about 10-12 years old)
*edit* whats the legality of these things?

Legally speaking, you bolt it onto a bicycle, and it becomes a motorcycle, and subject to all applicable laws if you so much as put a wheel on her majestys highways.
These things are REALLY slow though. If it isn't dead flat, you have to help it along with the pedals. 20mph is about as good as it gets. They contribute about as much propulsive effort as your legs do.
And if it rains? The roller on the back slips like mad and you may as well turn the engine off. They also have a habit of slipping in the dry too, and people with these things keep experimenting with different roller materials to find something that grips, but doesn't knacker the tyre too quickly.
Really cool oddity, but in no way a viable form of transport.

so does this fall into the same category as the electrically assisted bicycles?
I gathered they'd be slow, but just curious, great little find

Nope, the electrically assisted bicycles have their own classifications. Low power electric bikes don't need licensing, but faster/more powerful ones count as motorbikes.
Anything with two wheels and an internal combustion engine is a motorcycle. That is why go-peds and mini motos are illegal to ride on the road.
It is a cool little thing though, and should be great for buzzing around at shows and stuff.

Yep, this has got a Plate which I am going to try and retain ;D Saw a complete bike in an issue of Classic bike from 2002 and it was up for sale for around £600.... I havent got the bike, only the Motor but a Bobber cruiser style with the new 26" Fat Trials/BMX rubber will be great for cruising the shows with I may have to resist the urge to put a proper Spannie on it though and run it on Glow fuel ;D or an Alky/Castrol R mix ;D

I've got one of them motors, mines a "trojan minimotor". Don't have the seat post bracket though plus theres no float in the carb and a different knurled wheel, I'll dig it out and get some pics up if you like?

Faster. Faster. Until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.
