I still remeber going into electrical shops when they just started stocking computers and doing the old trick - 10 print 'dixons sucks' 20 goto 10; Is that right? We looked like evil computer geniuses for about a month! In my day we simply amended autoexec.bat to include: @echo off :1 echo FU CK OFF goto 1 We were dangerous kids... *n (typing this looking at a 21" Apple CRT made in 1996...This thing probably cost two grand when new...)

Excellent collection! I have a few old computers knocking around somewhere, mostly early Spectrum's plus my 'Captain Planet' edition Amiga 500+ (a whole 1mb RAM!) which is still boxed from when I bought it, was a fantastic machine!

I did computer studies A-level in the the mid 90's, all our programming was done on BBC micros. It was really great fun programming in basic, the cleaver kid in the class got to try quick basic on a PC. I raded the school stores when the Computer studies suit was revamped just as we left. I grabbed a couple of BBC's and a Commadore PET (I think) with the built in green screen. Alas they are long gone now having to negotiate storage from my parents got to be too much hard work.

I too have quite a collection.
Something like this: Sinclair: ZX80 ZX81 Spectrum 48k Cambridge z88 Plus a ZX bogroll printer and various ZX peripherals
Commodore (all Amigas) A2000 A500 A1200, a very early one.
Apple IIGS, one of the limited edition early "Woz" ones.
PCs, at least those of note. Compaq 486 colour luggable HP Omnibook 800 sub-notebook
No photos I'm afraid.
My local freecycle obviously isn't as good as yours. It's mostly people begging for impossibly valuable stuff that nobody in their right mind would give away for free. Well done on those BBCs though.

Cool - all these old computers take me back I used to have an Amstrad CPC6128 with the built-in disk drive, complete with the monitor that you had to buy to go with it.... I was the 'boy' up our street when I first had it & everyone else had tape loading C64s & ZX Spectrums.... except games were hard to get hold of. Annoyingly I only got rid of it about 4 years ago - leaving up our local tip with a pile of games, software joysticks (including a 'Crusier') etc. Kind of wish I hadn't & tried harder to give it away to someone who would have appreciated it

One family owned from new etc etc, very careful owner etc etc Nah - thanks for the offer though I got rid of mine because it was in the way & i had no use for it, just wish I had taken more effort at the time in making sure it went to a good home - I suppose this era of early PC are just becoming collectable so I prob wouldn't have much luck getting rid of mine at the time anyway?

Tonights chaos... Mending some of my DEAD C64's... If anyone happens to have a stash of working MOS 901227-03 Kernal ROMS ( or can burn some for me ) I would be certainly in line for providing such persons with beer.

I got a vectrex made by MB, line vector graphics in full workin order complete with a cart with ALL the games on got off fleabay.. speccy 128 (one which you select the type of PC you want from a menu at the beginning ie 48k etc) had a vic 20 but it was an odd one as the badge was actually VC20 and yeah had square keys which were such a nicer touch than the c64 keyboards were...

Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then travelling home, grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV.

Oh happy memories I had an 800xl back in the day had every peripheral you could get for it including radio control joysticks. Was the machine i learned hacking on long before the internet was thought of used to use a system called Micronet 800 if anyone remembers that and an acoustic coupler
