I've recently bought a Nitro RC car which needs a bit of work. Its on its way at the moment.
Its coming with a boring Bug eyed Scooby shell. When perusing ebay I noticed a large quantity of awesome banger shells!! All classics and the like.
I was just wondering how good or indeed curse word they are? I don't wanna banger it I just like the shells (in particular a Rover P5 hearse!!) Has anyone used one just as a normal shell or are they woefully flimsy and not durable enough?
Any knowledge and inspirational pictures will earn mystical brownie points!

What scale is your car? The banger shells are all designed for 1:12 Mardave type chassis. but sizes obviously vary a bit depending on type of car.

Another big plug for Keith at Kamtec he's a top bloke. He'll do traditional mail order but nowadays most trade is done through his ebay shop.

Another big plug for Keith at Kamtec he's a top bloke. He'll do traditional mail order but nowadays most trade is done through his ebay shop. Just been perusing all the shells that he sells through e'bay some are really cool - but as Seth points out you've got to be careful which scale/size you pick - if you go to his 'e'bay shop' theres an option to veiw all the 1/10th scale shells (which I guess your IC Scooby will be) Problem is there are some 1/10th shells advertised but don't have '1/10th' in the title so some searching is required Is it correct that Kamtec has taken over Mardave completely? I was hoping to get new wishbones for a Marauder that I've been offered But I guess all the spares for these have dried up

the shells shown in the pics above are indeed on 1:12 mardave hotrods (or V12s!) and won't fit on a 1:10th nitro!
Most of the 'banger' shells on ebay are 12th scale!
as for spares, i understand mardave has gone belly up in some way or another, but there will ALWAYS be people out there making spares for these cars!
p.s. i used to race bangers and hotrods and ran a local club.... brillient laugh!

I raced up at the Hinkley club a couple of Saturdays ago - they were running V12 chassis class that was proving to be as popular as the 1/10th touring cars also running. Speaking to one of the racers of the V12s & he said Mardave had been taken over by someone down south - so I presume that 'someone' is Kamtec?

Edit: All marauder bits have been obsolete for donkeys years, you might find some NOS or second hand as there is usually a load of marauder hits on a mardave E-bay search Mardave is owned by a chap called Chris Wilkinson, V12 Hot Rod worls Champ '06. Nothing to do with Kamtec. I think some kits can be bought through Kamtec, and of course their massive range of bodies and UFRA tyres. MardaveFor Kits and spares Andy who runs AK Modelsport will sort you out, a genuinely nice bloke. Tel: 01342 719090 and 07703 524338 As for getting a retro body on your Nitro car Qwerty, you could mod the chassis to take a 1/8th body, George Polly Anglia? Kamtec
