Right, here's the story. Basically I saw the rear end of an early 60's Karmann Ghia advertised on eBay a while back which I decided to buy as I needed a rear bumper for my Ghia, and the bumper was worth way more than the asking price. The guy selling it had had the Ghia since the 60's and had cut the rear off to start making a sofa out of it. However, as with all things it fell by the wayside and ended up in his shed, before he finally decided to stick it on eBay, when I came along. Here's what it looked like when I picked it up; As you can see he'd decided to cut some bloody great holes in it and put in some ashtrays from an old yank motor. (Sorry for the out of focus pics)

Don't worry the ashtrays have now gone! I started on the body work and the ashtray holes were the first thing to go; Some extra metal was also added into the bottoms (where the wheel arch starts) to fix all the damaged metal, and to give it extra strength. I also went out and bought some paint for it this weekend.

I recently bought a complete roof off someone though (front pillars down to start of decklid), he had two of them available. I can try to find his contact details if you wish?

Be sure to make the tail lights work for some cool accent lighting. First post but there will be more- so glad I found this site.

Be sure to make the tail lights work for some cool accent lighting. First post but there will be more- so glad I found this site. Welcome aboard. I've got a full set of US spec lights waiting to go in it when it's done. That's where it was cut I'm afraid dude. Well, having redecorated the dining room at the weekend, the sofa was looking a bit out of place, and Mrs Jabbo wants it sorted. So this evening I whipped some hardboard out of the shed, cut some foam, and used some of the material left over form her bus to make some cushions and side panels. I've also started detailing the lights. Just gotta figure out some way to make them work on the sofa. Hopefully I'll also get the compressor fired up soon to give it a couple of coats of primer and paint.

Mod a couple of those 'orb' lights that cycle through several colours to fit inside *n
