People who like to modify things like to modify things. I know a lot of people out there fiddle with bikes and gocarts and toilet seats and whatever else they can get their hands on in between making great cars... So if you've got a small project or a side project on the go stick it in here. Maybe you'll inspire others. Specifically I'd like to see some more modified bicycles and some soapbox racers -David

Yea, I think this is a really neat idea actually. Very, very rarely I just don't want to even think about cars, so it'll make quite a refreshing change. Should open it up a little bit!

At first I thought "well I`m not likely to have anything to go in there" but then I remembered I`ve got an original Raleigh Nightburner stashed away somewhere, I must go and find it. If I never post here again then that means whoever was storing it has thrown it away. They`d better not have!

Isn't this a start of a slippery slope??? Surely there are enough modified bike forums out there.
If it's to pimp the RR Soapbox thing then I can kinda understand it, but as Slater sort of says, it seems rather irrelevant and IMHO against what those who have control of such things have striven for so long to keep OFF Retro-Rides.

I think as a seperate part to the site, it will help, and if the typical off thread thread which applies, gets dumped in here, then some egos will be spared.
Nice one, lets hope as Brian said that it does get managed.
I am a great one for getting side tracked, and off thread.

Its not really about bikes asuch,.. just I know people like Rod, Gotwood, Seth and others have lots of modified 'things' around the place.. and it was a neat place to put them... Not everyone has the money/time/space to modify their cars all the time... may encourage some creativity. Obviously I'm hoping for more of an uptake on the whole soapbox thing as well.. for this year and next... and the year after, etc. etc. I think I might have to make a no-motor bikes rule though as I think it could easily become the motorbike forum.. just want to see how it goes initially. It may have a bit of interest to begin with and then die a death.. we'll see.

Push-bikes! Quality. This is just the shove I need to get back into them Time to go and raid the old folks garage for suitable treasure, plus re-furb my "old faithful"... 10 years and probably tens of thousands of miles on it. Joy.

TBH i don't think this section of RR is a downhill slope for the forum... if used correctly it could influence people in using styles used in other arenas (for instance survival bikes?) on there retros.... its good to look outside the scene and gain influence to keep the whole retro scene fresh... i think (because it suits my cars more than anything.) urban is the style forward for me taking survival bike and urban cammo into account! I'm thinking of using a UN matt baige with black UN on the doors on my BBF sd1..?! but its just an idea at the moment.. si

Cool idea! BTW, do you want model car threads in here too, or are they still for the general section?

Cool idea! BTW, do you want model car threads in here too, or are they still for the general section? Probably best to stick them in here... this section will find its own feet I'm sure. So if after a while something doesn't fit in here I can move the threads back to general

seems like a good idea to me.
car modification does not live in a vacuum so other stuff of a retro nature (bikes, pushbikes, models, go karts, caravans, whatever) is fine by me.
