Excellent engine conversion! I'm thinking of doing it to my TA22. There's an engine/loom/ecu/gearbox for sale in Canada which i'm thinking of buying. What other bit's did you need for the conversion? What were the main problems you came across? Did you find it easier to use the Power FC? Did you need the Altezza prop? Sorry for all the questions! Exhaust manifold have to be changed atleast in LHD car. Radiator had water necks in wrong places. I have both custom made. Oilpan needs to be modified little, because of a steering. Driveshaft / propellershaft won´t need other than new front yoke. If engine and tranny in sameplace than in my car Biggest problem was to get wiring diagram, after I got that it was simple. I had it first with stock ecu, but I wanted missing hp´s back, so I bought power fc. With stock ecu I had 195 hp / 185 Nm, it worked nice, but there were lack of power and torque. Mayby because of new exhaust and airfilter things, I don´t know. After power fc, I got 211 hp and 225 Nm, which factory promises. Altezza propellershaft have same splines as hiace, hilux, CROWN etc. W50, W51, W55, W58 etc. gearboxes. That cross joint is bigger in hiace and few others, so that yoke won´t fit to carina/celica prop, but older CROWNs, cressidas have smaller joint as in carina/celica. Hope you got it, english is not my native, so try to understand. Ask more if you need.

I´m going to jump under a train or something. No no nooooo! Don't do that. I'm sure someone can help you. If you can't find anyone in your local area/scene to help you, I'm sure someone on here might be able to give you some ideas!

I booked a dyno run, so I can figure is there anything other wrong in my ecu. And fortunately it´s going to rain whole week, so I have time to think things and settle down. And I have to start thinking other cars also. Girlfriend have two old corollas and other one (KE17 Sprinter) is going to a car show in May.
After I get this carina on the road again, I have to start welding and upgrading my winter car. It´s 1988 4WD Camry.
I´m going to do hydraulic handbrake to carina also. It had great handbrake, because there is all brake parts from RS200. Unfortunately there were too little space between propeller shaft and floor panel, so good buy brake cables ;D If change "everything" from some other car, there are lots of little things, which pops out little by little.
To do list for this car is still long, steering, interior, wheels, diet, charging (rotrex, roots etc.), paintjob etc.
I hope my garage is ready next winter, so I can really build cars again.

I am really hoping you are able to come to the UK next year as I'd definatly like to get you over for a car show However that is a long way off, so I shall leave it a while before making plans

I´ve been there once and I would love to come again. It was summer 1992, mmmmm what a summer... Have to start thinking of that.

Because summer is ending and weather starts to get wet, I desided to dig my not so good looking carina out from the barn. If I get it going after 3 years of sleep, I might start a new thread to it. It have brakes, rearaxle and suspension from AE86 corolla. Engine is turboed "stock" 2T, 1588cc pushrod engine with dellorto carb and front intercooler. It´s my first car and I won´t ever sell it. My dad bought it 1974 and I´m third owner.

what a strange front end on that car Is that the low spec front or something? Anyhow, it looks nice, even in that pic, and the underbonnet specs sound great too! ;D

That grille is done from two stock grille. Now there is space for inner lights, but I somehow like it that way. Intercooler which I have now is thicker and shorter. It have had 254hp and 371Nm from engine before.

Tomorrow is MOT day for my ´73 turbo carina, or how is it said in there? Annual vehicle inspection in here. Enginebay looks like that + there is airfilter now. Few test kilometers driven and ~1.0bar / 15 psi boost at the moment. Going to dyno next weekend, if it survive so long ;D Have to try other emulsion tubes in it, there is little lean spot between idle and main jet areas. Atleast all lights are working ;D

1972 carina is spending now time in garage to next summer. 1973 carina is now survived from vehicle inspection and dynoday. Dyno went quite good, only few problems with ignition. Spark died in 5771 rpm, max power was in 5770 rpm, 147kW from engine. This is also in garage at the moment, waiting next summer to come. 1974 carina is also going there, no more good events before next summer. This might be silent winter in car building Too much construction jobs in house and garage.
