First post here, so I thought I might kick it off with photos of my car (one of them). I bought this car about 3 months ago to save some $ commuting ~90kms daily to and from work.
It's a 1989 Mazda 121 Carby 1.3L 5 spd Manual. I bought it with 172,000kms, but have now clocked up about 5000kms since purchase.
When i first picked it up!
Bit of info for those not in the know --- My 121 is Japanese manufactured, but this shape was not sold in Japan at all. In jJapan and other places around the world they were known as Ford Festiva and had a different front end. In other parts of the world they were manufactured in Korea as a KIA Pride and looked even more different to the Mazda and Ford. More info on Festiva history here : www.fordfestiva.com/history.htm
On with the pics!
Ive done a few mods, but nothing too major.
I fitted an import leather Mazda Lantis wheel to replace the factory steering wheel.
I also installed an old MP3/cd head unit I had lying around. The tape deck don't cut it these days (although it's still in there!)
Mechanically, it's been faultless apart from the clutch (could of been partially my fault ;D ). I retired it one night after some abuse, and went and got an Exedy std clutch kit for it --- drove HEAPS better afterwards which makes me think the old clutch was the original and on its way out anyway.
On the to do list :
Replace battery + Terminals + ground/earth/Negative wire to battery.
Repaint the wheels either black or silver.
Freshen up the bumpers (the rear one keeps fading whiter by the day)
And if anyone's interested (it's not retro!) --- This is my other car , a 2006 2.4L Manual Mivec Lancer Wagon. It's mostly standard apart from a strut brace, Alpine stereo gear, dark tint, and some 15x6.5" Sprint Hart Racing wheels.
