Picked this up yesterday, 1 owner from new and 30,000 miles on the clock. I suppose it was a "must have" for those wanting to spend as little as possible on a new car in 1988. Also a must have if you like "interesting" handling. Goes ok though as it's the 1.5 version (Mitsubishi engine?). Its an "Ebony" Special edition, not sure what difference that makes, but it does mean it has some kwalitee graphikz on it. Inside it's pretty much spotless, well it is now after a good scrub. Its even got electric windows and sunroof, the damn things even work... Plans at the moment involve a damn good polish and a refurb of the alloys. At the moment they look like this: They are in good nick under the peeling laquer, so i'm going to strip them back and polish the lip and have neon orange centres. I also want to de-clutter the outside as well, which might mean the awesome Ebony stickers have to go, shame. Some stick may have to be applied too, it might even be my first attempt at chopping springs.. Unless anyone knows of springs off something else that will fit?

HAHA, quality. I think that there is real potential lurking there: It's blck which is a good start, tidy and you just do not see them any more. Several inches less altitude and you'll be a winnAr.

Not that many of them around at all, most of them were hatches not saloons which makes it doubledee rare. You keep the graphics, they are special.
Just noticed the floor mats!

Cheers for the comments! I've been slow with the photoshopping today... but this is version one. Oh and the floor mats are rag rugs from tesco, cost about £5

Awesome! I had a 1.5 hatchback a couple of years ago. They're indestructible! I tried! Thrashed the ass off it, most of the time running on 3 cylinders (dunno why), never slowed for speed bumps, got air over humpback bridges... I abused the thing mercilessly! I gave it to MrStigma in the end, who donated it for Police forensics training. (I really wish he had told me that before I gave it to him...)

Guess all the black light training was made very easy by all your exploits in it...... ;D

Ok, i've already managed to be spaz with this car, suspect i've blown a fuse whilst trying to fit a CD player, that'll teach me to improvise... Luckily there were 2 full boxes of fuses in the glovebox when i got the car. On the upside I did find an original Hyundai Pony brochure in the pile of stuff I got with it, tempted to scan it in to share the awfulness.

Tried out my chosen colour scheme on one of the wheels today, it's damn bright! The photo doesn't do the colour much justice, its very orange... It's exactly what i wanted though. Hopefully have them all done in a couple of days so i get a snap of them all on the car. Also started to take the sexy "Ebony" stickers off, think i'm going to be polishing the remains of the glue off for eternity. Damn.

what colour orange is that? Looks awesome Its god-awful Plasti-Kote flourescent Orange, sprayed over white primer with several coats of clear laquer. The orange stinks and doesn't cover particularly well, but the colour is brill. Its a bit more of a reddy-orange than the photo shows, my camera settings aren't too good.
