Well, at last we are back from Scotland. The bus ran perfectly to the RR '09 Gathering. Having slept in it for a second session, after Santa Pod earlier, the blow up matress has proven to be the next stumbling block, deflating by 02.30. I now need to get a high density foam matress sorted that can be folded and stored in 3 or 4 sections when not in use. Beyond that , the trailer needs completing for camping, and when the bus is switched to 12V electrics, it should be about as good as we want it for now. Next will be panneling and insulating the inside for camping once Edd has completed the Zetec conversion over winter. Paint should go on after the 2010 season

Mystery Machine came over early to greet us and took a pic...... Ms Grizz just about to start the show with a bang.... Long distance lenses have their use ;D After most had gone, we were only leaving on Monday for a leisurely drive back, and then up to Scotland on Tuesday morning 05.00am Possibly my best action shot, along with Oldbus helmet sticking out the top of the Datsun.... ;D RRG '10 is already penned into our event diary for 2010. Thanks to the whole gang for getting it right every year.

Hey, was good to meet you at RRG. I was in Aldi the other day and noticed they have a massive pile of HD foam Camping mats for something like £2 a piece - Might be some good to you?

Amazingly, I remember a pic of Oldbus and Edd under my bus, inspecting the engine bay at the Gathering, no idea in which thread it was.... but if someone remembers , please post it in here, or even into the thread of the bus .
It forms a perfect introduction to the bus and its proposed winter metamorphosis.

Thought posting this pic taken by RetroMat from another thread posted after the Gathering weekend would be a perfect way to start what will be the next chapter in the bus' life. Oldbus, Edd (Bodie and Doyle) and possibly John crawling about, sliding underneath the bus, discussing just how to graft in a FWD 1800cc 105BHP Zetec engine over winter. After September and the last few shows the bus will be doing, including Battlesbridge in Essex, it will be driven and dropped off with Edd to be converted to Zetec power. Now these busses originaly came with a 4 cylinder, 1500cc 55BHP rear wheel drive engine. Edd found me a 105BHP Ford Orion , ex pensioner, Full service history with about 58k miles. Plan is to rob everything needed from the Orion, and transfer to the bus, in the most simple mechanical way. Thus doubling power and switcheing to 12 Volt power for 2010 . At the end of the 2010 season, Nicola and I should have a new home together where it will get body and paint sorted over winter 2010. Sounds incredible.... 2010, just the other day it was the turn of the century. And another view from Speedman's camera lens. ;D

Back from attending the 2009 Streetrod Nats with the bus has brought its use for August to over 600 miles of trouble free motoring, and yes I am pretty chuffed. Going to the Nats was due to BodieandDoyle Edd's invtation at the RRG '09 . It was certainly an event that left both Nicola and me with heads ready to explode. Photo dump due shortly when the 100 plus pics I took are loaded. Parked up at the Sunday show and shine, we got there at 9.15, as the gates opened at 9.30, so got in at a decent time, and had time to get to the traders and most (Not all) of the cars parked up there. There must have been in excess of 2000 cars. We also saw the most 100E and 300E cars ever at one show. I would say between 15 and 20, so these little cars are now really picking up in popularity. Looking forward to Battlesbridge show the end of September, after which the bus will go straight to Edd for modification.

Got some signs at the Nats as well. One for the wall. And one for the Door. Name for the new garage if the deal goes through next year.

Currently driving a '68 Karmann Ghia as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!

Morning Kerry, I tried to scan and upload it via the work PC, but no cigar. I guess you will have to browse in WHSmith. In fact, on reflection, go out and buy it, or pop over for a cuppa tea and read my copies..... ;D

Guess it had to happen. After this years season, and a couple of camping trips, I have decided to build (Or at least try to ) a Teardrop trailer of some sorts. Looked at small caravans, pop-ups, Eriba Puck, etc and decided that based on their prices, sensibility and generally what they are for what they deliver, to go the painfull route and to try build us one over winter. The design will be pretty basic and not spectacular as the unlimited budget Ametican style one you usually see. I think a basic chassis, ply wood sides, timber frame, and just the "roof" clad in metal sheeting will be my route. Finish will be paint in the colours of the bus , so Green, Red, White and a Checker flag roof. The whole lot will be in scallop shapes, so as to enhance the shape of the trailer, and to create an illusion of lowness. All advice and pointers gladly received. Help over here at Chez Grizz with tea making, and banter also welcomed. Basic idea: Images lifted from various places on the web.
