Completely off topic but I quite enjoy reading your tat blog Mr B. In fact, it was due to some extraneous link posted on the internet directed to your ebay feedback that I ended up on RR in the first place. Quick note to say thanks for the best feedback left on ebay i've ever seen. I've just got to say thanks. if I am ever down and can't snap out of it Mr B's Feedback never fails to raise a smile

Are you defo gonna do the 2.0 conversion on yours Hirst? Sadly I am under mega pressure to get the Landcrab out of our garden, otherwise i'd be up for lobbing the 2.0 in yours in my workshop, would be a good little project that. Yeah it's getting done, as always with me I'm not quite sure when though, will at least need to be after my birthday in July for insurance purposes. So I'm spending a little on the current setup to make it usable in the meantime: new clutch as it really is on its last legs, might fix the worst oil leak if it's just a gasket. Won't be a total waste of time as I'll keep it handy to go in an old Lancer or something. As is, my abilties don't stretch to fitting engines so I will likely get it done by a trained but cheap mechanic I know. Having you stick the 2.0 in would be an absolutely great project though. You should just turn up here and I'll crack open a (reduced-price) packet of Malted Milk biscuits and you could just crack on with it, plums My Ride! "We know you love the beach and dance music, so we did nothing to your car with relation to those things. However we have done some extensive welding on the rear quarter bottoms and changed the thermostat. You've officially been Bolloxed."

Decent bit of progress in the garage last night. Got started at 8.30 pm: got stuck in.... 3 hours + 2 cans of John Smiths later, was up to here: Its a shame this car is rotten as I think its a real looker, love the pointy front: Sadly though: "Got rust? Sure man, we gotta whole bunch of rust right here" The inner sills of this thing are absolutely peppered and have been patched up at least once before. Also the chassis leg is fizzing nicely. I'm not getting involved! 12.30pm: And thats where i'm up to! My eBay ad has prompted a flurry of interest from nearby banger boys, and so a noisy oval-shaped fate awaits the shell which should be getting taken away next week after I have taken a few more bits of trim etc and possibly the screen if I can get it out without smashing it (i doubt it). Does anyone know if FWD bluebird wheels will fit on this car? Stud pattern of the Sigma is 114.3 i believe. I ask because I am keeping the wheels off it, and the new owner is gonna bring some bluey wheels with him to allow it to roll onto his truck.

Premium work! Looking forward to getting that in the front of the Galant, not particularly looking forward to heaving it into the back but hey that's showbusiness! Exciting times are ahead.

Tell you what, it weighs a freakin ton, good job I had my 'safety hernia kegs' on while yarking it about in the garage last night.

What sort of money would you want to keep the rest of the car from the Oval , If I can find room I rather see is saved incomplete but restorable.

the centre bore on the bluey wheels may be a bit tight, i had those on my sigma when the original steels quite literally rotted off the car. i had to take a grinding stone to the nissan wheels and give them a bit of a massage.

Its time for a TBU (TAT BLOG UPDATE) First off, get rid of the Sigma Wagon. Some friendly local banger racers snaffled the shell after I had liberated the main mechanical organs, plus some trim bits and the wheels. This is all thats left of it at the bol_workshop: I spent ages trying to get the windscreen out, got 3 sides choppped out OK then cracked it on the last bit while I was getting a trim clip out, MEGA ANNOYING. That would have been a well handy thing to have in the loft (just in case) Ah well. Its gone to some racers at Outwell, so look out for it on bangerracingphotos.com or summert. Then, this weekend, it was time to move in the next dilapidated old POS - the NORRIS: Bought this months ago off eBay for ÂŁ150: I a-framed it 150 miles to the garage on Sunday which as ever, made my stomach churn... its a little heavier than i am comfortable a-framing which made for a VERY steady drive... anyway it passed without any incident, missing out motorways and town centres, so that was OK. Jobs to do are: 1) welding. The 'Crab has assorted rot spots here and there, no galloping structural rot but various localised bits which need TLC. 2) Brakes: no brakes.... m/cyl seized for starters. 3) Hydro suspension needs a pump-up, I am gonna make a pump for that later. 4) interior is revolting, rotten carpets etc. 5) most of the electrics don't work. 6) clutch seized on 7) 2 engine mounts knackered. 8) leaky radiator 9) general shitey appearance. The clutch is a pain in the ass cos it means the car is not driveable. Plan there is to get the brakes and suspension fixed, then I will be able to take it to a quiet industrial estate one night and give it some serious driver abuse to hopefully pop the clutch free and/or destroy the idler gears. Check the UNIT, I hope I don't have to take this lot out to fix the clutch, as these old lumps weigh about 9546872 kg. All the landcrabs i've ever known have a knackered top engine mount, and this one's no exception. Well, last night I was wondering what to do so I thought i'd embark on a bit of tin bashing. This hole seemed as good a place to start as any: bit of dismantling gave me this: Whats that bubble above the headlight? Its this: The bottom of the headlamp bowl turned out to be made of fibreglass: before long it looked like this: Nowt else to do really but glue some new metal in, didnt know where to start so I boshed a plate in that was a bit on the small side, but at least it got the job going: Crusty! Will do a bit more tonight.

Crikey! That looks like a fair bit of work there Mr. B, but kudos to you, I love these landcrabs - are there any replacement panels available for these?
Looking forward to seeing this come to fruition.

It might have been BL by the time that car was made but that is easily identifiable as BMC rot! Good to see you getting stuck in to this.
