my garage marra had a Puma, but he's weighed it in now!!! Mainly due to it being rusty and $hite. Yeah I get that. I've had to do a load of welding to ours. Still not driven it actually. Had it 9 months and it's not been on the road yet. I should probably MOT it soon . Maybe i'll post a thread about it.

Did some welding (stereotypically) on my mates girlfriends (also stereotypically) 1.7, driving it to the test centre and then back to hers was a great laugh. Thought it'd be curse word but it was a cracking drive, great revvy engine, slick gearchange, lovely handling.

Wasn't the Argenta the "flagship" top of the range Fiat back in the early 80's? I remember seeing a quite a few Mirafioris (sp) and very, very few of these. And never have I heard of an Italian motor with a decent driving position, but then I've never driven one! I think it's cool, not Bi-Turbo cool, but cool nonetheless. One for clever enthusiasts I think.... and the world is all the richer for it being preserved. At the risk of mentioning the unmentioned, whats the latest on the Maser? Mate of mine has a 90's Ghibli - everything about the car is epic, but you just feel that you're looking at a ticking bomb! Yes, it was. Actually, a kinda "provisional" model. By the end of the seventies the sales of the 132 fell back; they decided to give a "cosmetic" surgery to the 132. Bigger boot, more brick shaped including the head and the taillights. And plenty of gadgets... xboo11ox has a Series One (1981-1983), with some "sci fi" design sunvisors. Red plasic flaps, not foldable, but hidden underneath the roof caret, have to pull it down when it needed. also, above the front doors, same flaps for side "sun protection". The odometer lights were red. The Series Two had traditional sunvisors and gereen dashoboard lights, the front was more vertical. The diesel ones were very popular in Italy as taxi, cos it had a huge boot and was pretty comfortable for the passangers and the driver too.

Interesting point made here (http://petrolblog.com/2014/08/whatever-happened-fiat-argenta/) that the Argenta launched in 1982, the year we went to war with Argentina over the Falklands! Maybe that contributed to the lack of sales, although being such an obviously old design was probably the main reason, plus the fact we've never really bought big Fiat's.
BTW - the video on that page is worth watching. Amusing.

Probably.. Actually, always the small cars made the Fiat succesful. Just like nowadays (Fiat 5oo). After the Argenta, they launched the Croma. That was a great car as well, really comfortable. My bro used to have one, bought from an aircraft engineer, who wanted to fix the leaking power steering but failed. I removed it, and take it to a specialist, who refurbished the whole thng using factory parts. Years later changed the clutch, was a real suck..:

Sorry for the minor hi-jack, but thanks to Mr. Lamsdale and Mr. Menace for the history lesson - I was 11 and a confirmed petrol-head when these things were new, and I find the history of 'em very interesting, so thanks for taking the time to post.
Now, Mr. B..... at the risk of sounding demanding - Do you have any more updates for us? It's great to see such an odd-ball selection of cars receiving your attention, I mean how many people can you think of that flit between Rover Commerce vans, Masertattis, and Mazda 929's?
I just wish you were nearer, imagine what you could do with my 1.4 Polio....!

I have had one other crock join the fleet lately, but its a 53-plate Rover 75 that I bought off ebay for 150 quid!!!! Might be a bit new for on here. I did drag it 160 miles on an a- frame and have syringed 1.2 litres of mayo out the bores though so it meets my exacting low standards for old heaps.

Something makes me think you're exempt from the "retro" rule..... go on let's see the (not so) old thing!
God, your A-frame could tell some stories..... is the 75 another K Series?

Yep we want to see everything. There is no exemption, if its in the fleet, Hz should be in the fleet thread.

Rover 75s are a great option for a daily! Did you manage to snag a turbo one or the boggo 1.8? Lots of high spec cars sell for peanuts so easy to get a leather interior in there if that's your sort of thing.

Mr. B..... the people have spoken.... let's be having some pics!!! One of my neighbours has just bought the MG estate version of I think it's the 75 - I'm not really into the modern stuff, but it's a good looking car, and it looks very respectable for an old sh1tter.
And only you could describe syringing mayo out of the bores..... I pmsl.

Even it's "bit new for on here" it's a retro look champion. I remember, when I saw the first one I was devasteted.. Especially by it's odometer. Forgive me, if I'm beeing nosey, but what's the crack with the Argenta? Is she gone? Hope, she has a good home by now. (My son wanted me to buy her actually, but later he fellen in love with a Series One Miata.

Right first up is the old Rover 25GTi. Not a lot to report on that. Last time I had managed to sort out the overheating after almost driving myself mental taking the head on and off. Well I let it sit for a while then when I had some money chucked it in for an MOT. To my amazement it passed without needing any further fannying about!!! I hit it up with the polishing mop: Then to be honest did nowt else with it. Its just sat about doing nowt ever since!!! I'm sure its only worth like £400 so hardly seems worth the bother of selling for buttons after all that grief, specially when its such a nice, rare little car. Current status is 'maybe going off on long term loan' but thats about it for that one.
