As i´d totalled the rear door as well I had to dig out my spare one so that I can get it to the sprayers tomorrow. The problem is that it needed a bit of modification as it doesn´t have a window and a 65 door is a bit different from a 63 one. First job was to cut the hole out for the window, which is pretty straightforward.. I then welded up the holes for the "Taunus Transit" sign.... swapped over the hinges from the old one and then cleaned it all up a bit and threw it in the back of the wifes´Estate so that she can bring it round to the sprayers in the morning... I´ll need to drill some holes in it when it comes back as the spare came from an 1965 van and they have the numberplate and light in the rear sill and not in the door.. This is (was) mine from 1963... and you can just make it out what a 65 looks like here... Thanks again for all your imput guys, it´s a big help and is much appreciated. ;D

Bloody Hell Dave,
I just got in from the week in Spain, and see you broke the bus.
If you can make it this far.....take the light from my bus, alternately, if you need it fast , let me know and I will get it into the post by Registered mail for you on Saturday, I am working with my boss tomorrow, so a bit stuck for free time during business hours.
Great come back with all you got done mate, and as I said, gutted for you.
Kudo's to the boys for helping you as well.
Let me know by phone or email what you want me to do.

Thanks Rian, much appreciated. I´ve ordered a pair of new (cheap reproductions) from Motoso.de but although they´re still listed they´re out of stock for the next couple of weeks. As soon as they can supply i´ll get a pair and if they´re not too bad i´ll order some for you too. So that I can do Geeste and Santa Pod i´ll be borrowing one out of the 56, they´re not great but better than nothing. Cheers, Dave Bloody Hell Dave, I just got in from the week in Spain, and see you broke the bus. Oh Dave you wally!!!!
Been a few weeks since I checked in here, and when I read what you have done, I said, "dear oh dear" or words to that effect.
A good panel beater with access to a wheeling machine might be able to get your panel straight, so you can transplant back to other van.
Regards the shifter, and I know you said not electrical, BUT, if you still have the Scorpio, you could use a toothed quadrant as previously suggested, with a door locking solenoid operated by a switch on the dash to engage into the slots. Just a thought mate. All the mechanical bits re hidden, just one wire from 12volts to solenoid, and an earth. Job done.

Balls of steel. Heart of a Lion. Great stuff Dave. Not to sure about that mate, curse word happens but why always to me?? What accident? Incredible! The repair is not that good Ian, you can tell ...just not on the photo.... the repair looks spot on Like it never happened Thanks mate, not quite but it´ll have to do! All those white squares to stick back on That´s not as bad as you´d think, I don´t have to stick them on individually (except for the odd one or two that I get wrong) they come on a sheet and all I have to do is get it lined up properly and pull off the backing strip. Glad to see you got it sorted so quickly Dave. Looking good once again. ;D Thanks sav, was a case of having to mate! ;D I agree mate, don´t know how he fitted me in but he did!!! Andy You´re right Andy and as Wally doesn´t translate my neighbours learn´t a few new english words last Monday.... I like the solenoid idea, might use that as a back up if my "cunning plan" doesn´t work. I´ve put the cut out corner in the shed for now, once it´s on the bench it should be straight forward enough to straighten it out incase I ever want to restore the spare...(can´t see it happening somehow)

Why not use the handbrake lever idea for blocking the column shifter but instead of connecting it to a handbrake connect it to the old clutch pedal?
