Oh Dave you wally!!!! Been a few weeks since I checked in here, and when I read what you have done, I said, "dear oh dear" or words to that effect. A good panel beater with access to a wheeling machine might be able to get your panel straight, so you can transplant back to other van. Regards the shifter, and I know you said not electrical, BUT, if you still have the Scorpio, you could use a toothed quadrant as previously suggested, with a door locking solenoid operated by a switch on the dash to engage into the slots. Just a thought mate. All the mechanical bits re hidden, just one wire from 12volts to solenoid, and an earth. Job done. Andy instead of a switch on the dash, use the seatbelt warning light switch, so you cant get it into gear unless your sittin on the drivers seat.

Why not use the handbrake lever idea for blocking the column shifter but instead of connecting it to a handbrake connect it to the old clutch pedal? Thanks siert, but with the layout of the columnchange/steering that´s not going to be possible. Oh Dave you wally!!!! Think i´m going to have to buy my mate (electrician) a few beers! ;D glad to see it looking all lovely again OB. Thanks Tim, getting there slowly...... ;D Or just make sure no garages behind you ;D ;D ;D ;D I´m out in the carport just to make sure!! Bloody hell Dave. Quick update while i´m having a brew and warming up a bit. Polished the door catch and fitted it then started with the stickers... as you can see it´s not as bad as it looks, unless you get it wrong and have to peel them all off again! Sorted... Door seal glued back in, got the rear light out of the 56 van, cleaned it up a bit. Doesn´t look too bad until you get in close, it´ll have to do until i can get a new one from god knows where... Bumper back in place too... ...and Robert is a relative!!! Right i´m off back out ;D

Had a busy afternoon involving..... rear bumper... bit of wax.....(don´t let the misses know where the spare kettle has got to ) the accelerator pedal was very light (or do i just have a heavy right foot? and was a bit tricky to dose correctly so i decided to fit the original Transit return spring. I´d been using the one on the engine up until now but it wasn´t enough. Sorted now though... Gave the whole intake area another coat of paint ans some wax... refitted the airfilter and was going to refit my old grill and surround when i thought i´d check to see if the one on the other van was any better. Surprisingly enough after a bit of a clean up it was... ;D Quite like this pic...a bit of old a new... i had to seal the back up as it´s been raining all day over here. ...and this is the front rebuilt, cleaned and polished, it´s taken me over four months to get back to this... ...but it was worth it. Tomorrow i need to get the engine bay sorted and put back together... Thanks for looking in!

Greet Thorsten Danke Thorsten, good job Thursday is another Bank holiday eh, we´ll both need it to finish the vans off. See you Friday mate. ;D That van is just so right and looking as good as ever. Thanks mate, getting there slowly! ;D Started off this morning with some soundproofing mats, those sticky tar things that normally cost a bomb (well they do over here unless like these they fell off the back of a lorry!) Stuck them to the inside of the wheelarches... and then to the underside of the engine cowlplates.. Before i closed the engine in i wanted to protect the electrics from getting fried and thought why not reuse the Scorpio heat deflectors.. and before everything is hidden i needed to wire up a toggle switch to the fan relay so that i can switch it on manually if necessary. With all the plating in place the next job up was to get the carpets in... ...won´t be long now! ;D
