Thanks trg, i´ll have to extend the tank straps, make up a bracket and fit the pump and fuel lines. I´ve got one or two wires that´ll need laying too, fuel pump etc. But i´ve got a busy week at work this week so it´ll probably have to wait until next weekend. not much left then haha. I'm sure you'l get that lot sorted in no time going off how quickly you've done everything else cheers for taking the time to reply to everyone individually OB. You´re right actually, theres not that much left to be done. If when the electrics are done it runs and I don´t have to re do it all again because i´ve forgotten something. Before Michael comes round i´ll need to get the tank-pump and fuel lines in, then hopefully we can get it up and running. I need to rebuild, soundproof and fit out the cab and knock out all the dents i´ve put in the bodywork the last few months. I think that if someone reads my ramblings and makes the effort to comment, the least I can do is answer ;D looking good! I love the tank! @ 4degrees C and normal atmospheric pressure. but that does also count for the lbs/pound/whatever calculations sidspop posted Doc, there are times when living on the continent (where everything is metric), has it´s advantages.

hehe, metric just rocks ;D ;D ;D Haven´t got my camera sorted so we´ll have to do without until the weekend as my retro phone doesn´t take pics.... Wasn´t happy with the finish so gave the tank another couple coats of paint on Monday(in the dark ) i´ve never painted before with a sprygun in one hand and a torch in the other! As the fuel pump will be connected up to the drainplug hole i needed to get something sorted so that i can connect the 1" pumpfeed hose to the tank. I managed to find a thread adapter for the drain hole, its M24 and all the plumbing connectors and pipes are 3/4" so i´ve now got a 90 degree copper pipe coming out of the bottom of the tank which i can connect the hose to. As the evenings are becoming a bit lighter i managed to get the fuel lines and filter out of the Scorpio. I´ll see if i can borrow a camera and take some pics....has anyone got a Kodak DX4900 Camera for sale?

Thanks for that mate, i´m watching one that´s local(ish) to me on eBay.de if that s doesn´t work out i´ll go for one of them. Sounds a bit daft buying second hand cameras but i´m not a professional, ive got used to them, they´re good little cameras and i quite like the docking station. No progress on the van from yesterday, got sweet talked into sorting out the garden as the weather was nice (for a change) - at least i can hide away in the garage at the weekend and don´t have to mow the lawn!! ;D

Borrowed the camera from work so i can catch up on a few pics... This is the old drainplug which is now modified using a thread adapter and bit of plumbing... it goes in here. As you can see there was no room to extend the tank out to the sides... oh and the brown stuff is not rust, it´s wax (don´t mind the odd stone chip or dent but not into rust anymore)...with the tank out i can now give it a clean up and get rid of the overspray. next job is to extend the tankstraps a bit, the bungee is the right length... Talking of spraying while the van is jacked up at the back.... i´ll have to fix this too... next time i´ll change all the running gear before i paint it!

Was surprised about the lack of rust too, it´s been like that since i started the engine swap end of Dezember...

Yep, and they´re new too. I only made up those corners last year before it got painted sheet happens, it´s my own fault for making it pretty before I made it go fast ;D

Gggrrr. Re-doing work is so infuriating! Why don't you just use the bungee to hold the tank in?

Gggrrr. Re-doing work is so infuriating! Why don't you just use the bungee to hold the tank in? If it had happened a few years ago there would have been a few more dents in it(size 12!) but i´ve quietend down a bit since my accident..... Oh and Seth, my 13 Year old son Christian beat you to that wisecrack with the bungees although i repaired my old escort exhaust a few years ago with a bungee - it held for years- even got it through a MOT with it on ;D

Thanks Jon, much appreciated. Just popped in from the garage to warm up a bit and have my last bowl of Alpen before the end of May when i come over... I modified the tankstraps last night to match the new tank... Interesting that Ford used the same strap size in the fifties/sixties for the van and were still using it in 1992 when the Scorpio was built. So not only is the van, half van & half Scorpio, the tank and the straps are too! ;D As i´m not too keen on wasting anything i not only painted the tankstraps... ...but used the rest that was in the spray gun and gave the front of the trailer a once over... nothing like a bit of shiney paint to help get it through its MOT which is due this month. ;D Before i fit the tank i needed to clean up all the bits going back on the tank... half done... what a difference a bit of wire brushing makes... So with a touch of paint (and the rest on the trailer again), i can now refit the tank. i´ll be using the original tank feed pipe for the return line so there´s hopefully no need to extend the internal pipe down to the bottom of the tank. The misses is getting too close with the Hoover it´s time to get back out and hide in the garage. ;D

I just read all 37 pages.( EDIT:: Just hit 38) Your work is fantastic, the enthusiasm and ability is second to none! Keep it up! Wow, bet that took you a while. ;D Thanks for taking the time to read it all through, it´s posts like yours that help get me out into the garage even when I can´t be bothered, cheers! cant wait ;D top stuff as usual Thank you sir, seeing that, better get mine on order too! 6 weeks till our first meet in Geeste and 7 untill CF, looking good!!! ;D;D Got the tank back together and all sealed up... Between the tankstraps and the tank there was a leather band to stop the metal to metal contact. As the original ones have rotted away years ago I modified an old belt I had lying around... These two bits of wood are, believe it or not, original Ford parts and make sure that when the straps are tightened up they don´t contact the joint in the middle, so cleaned them up and put them back in... sorry about the lousy photos... With the tank back in place I have to find somewhere to put the electric fuelpump and filter. I don´t want them behind the wheels as they´ll get full of spray when it rains and it´d be just a question of time before it gives up the ghost. The only place where there is a bit of room is between the tank, the rear panel and the towbar. So I knocked up a bracket out of some old supermarket shelving... and mocked it up into place... Using part of the original rubber bracket I can fit the filter and pump in here quite nicely and the should be out of harms way... this is as far as I got today but you get the general idea what i´m waffling on about... ;D Thanks for looking in guys, i´ll see if I can get it finished and painted tomorrow and the fuel lines adapted and fitted ;D ;D ;D

Well didn´t get far with the fuel lines today as my old one snapped as soon as i started to bend it, so it wasn´t going to be my day today so i threw the other pipes in the corner and ignored them all day... ;D As the pump bracket has to hold a bit of weight and i didn´t like it hanging down in thete middle i welded in a support to strengthen it up a bit... i then gave it a touch of paint.... ...and ignored that the rest of the day too! As the van is jacked up nicely at the back i thought i´d repair the two rear corners..... Rear left before... during.... and after.... the other side wasn´t any better either... it´s not perfect but it´ll do as they´re hidden behind the rear bumpers....! I´ll give it a couple of days to harden out properly and the next warm day we get i´ll touch them up with some of the paint i have left over from the trailer. Next up are the fuel lines...see if i can find time this week as i´m a bit busy at work at the moment! Cheers, Dave
