Hey OB - thanks for the guilt trip - glad to see you're not resting on your laurels....... I hope the brake overhaul is scheduled for later in the year - or we'll both be praying we're ready for RR08. I've spotted a Mk1 transit sitting nearby, rotten to the core, I'll see what the plans are for it and let you know. Good luck mate. John Cheers John, i want to try and get the brakes sorted before we come over for RR08. It´ll still be useless around corners but Santa Pod doesn´t have any!!! If the Transit has disc brakes and a 5x160 PCD mate let me know and i´ll pop over with an angle grinder!! ;D Didn´t think it was going to happen until yesterday but i did manage to get some time off work as we wanted to go to Lobbach near Heidelberg this weekend. It´ll be the first proper run out for the van and trailer and we had to get quite a few bits and bobs sorted. Got the floor finished and then realised i haven´t fitted the rear bumpers, so had to dig out a pair out of the shed... fill them a bit and get some primer on quick... then it was a quick spray job last night... followed by an even quicker bottom half paint job on the trailer this morning... Just thrown put it all back together again, hopefully the paint will be dry by tomorrow? Nothing to show on film (can you still say that nowadays?) but got the indicaters on the van up and running, bled the brakes, re-sealed the exhaust and most importantly got the fridge up and running and the cd player wired in....nothing like a cold Herforder and some Depeche Mode. Lobbach is around 550 miles away (round trip) but with the "new" engine in there it shouldn´t be too difficult dragging the trailer over the Mountains. With a planned visit to the "Technik Museum" in Speyer on Monday that´ll round off a long Retro car weekend nicely... ....lets just hope the weather holds.

After getting Madge and LNK's bodywork etc sorted (over next couple of years) I think an 'Imp' trailer is on the cards.

Thanks guys, we made it back from Lobbach in one pice which is more than can be said of the exhaust. The left hand rear box decided it doesn´t want to play anymore, so i ripped it off somewhere near Frankfurt and enjoyed the sportscar sound all the way home... ;D As i´m not too happy with the whole system i´ll need to redo it all anyway before we come over to Gaydon so now i have a good excuse. On the way back from Lobbach i picked up a complete MKI Transit front axle, with disc brakes and 5x160 PCD. After spending all day tidying the garden and carport i thought i´d treat myself to a couple of hours in the garage this evening and started taking it to bits... I was chuffed that it´s complete but it was parked up on a field for a few years so a bit of gentle persuasion (oil, big hammer and extension bar...) was needed. ;D Although it might not look too pretty i´m more than happy as it looks like i´ll be able to get it all to fit my Taunus axle.. Got there in the end..... I tried to buy a 22mm drill this evening without any luck. The kingpins from the MKI are 1mm bigger than the originals and i need to drill out my axle to get the MKI stuff to fit. The calipers are soaking in petrol overnight, see if i can get them free tomorrow. The Scorpio 24V Calipers will fit the Transit axlestubs but the discs won´t so i´ll have to have a bit of a play once i´ve got the exhaust sorted. Thanks for looking in! ;D

Managed to get a couple of hours in the garage this afternoon, (was meant to be tidying it up but got sidetracked as you do! Still faffing about trying to get some brakes sorted... from the left.....Capri V6, Transit MKI van, Transit MKI truck and Scorpio 24V The easy way would be just to mount the original MKI van calipers but they´re both completely knackered and I don´t fancy buying new ones if I can get away with it. The Scorpio ones don´t fit either unfortunately and the Capri ones are close but not close enough. At least I had chance to have a look under the Capri as I was taking the caliper out..it´s not as bad as I thought! ;D I really fancied getting the truck calipers to fit as they´re 4 pot and are in half decent nick. Well they don´t fit, or should I say they didn´t....but they do now...! ;D Got it all mocked up and it looks like it´ll work. This is the final version (i hope) Taunus axle - MKI Transit van hubs and discs- MKI Transit truck calipers I´ll see if I can get the kingpin holes drilled out professionally then I can start cleaning it all up and get it ready for paint. I won´t be able to fit a servo on the master cylinder as I just don´t have any room between the 24V and the bodywork. Anybody had any experience fitting those remote servos? I see them regularly in race & touring cars but haven´t got the foggiest how it all works or what I would need. Any ideas? Cheers, Dave

Got the axle drilled out yesterday to take the MKI hubs so i could spend a couple of hours breathing in rust yesterday and this afternoon. Got all the rust off and have just given it all a lick of paint.... If anyone fancies some Ford wheels, the ones in the background are going cheap (15" Ghia and 16" Cosworth)....
