Nice to see you´re moving on and i´m sure you´ll sort out the leak! ;D Well thats a " NOT " as far as I can see  Just been out to have a look ( after a characteristically bad day at work ) My diagnosis - the head gasket hasn't taken properly, got a nasty oil leak just below the dizzy and theres white smoke on start up. Really curse word off and despondant now - not as if I haven't done a sodding head gasket before. |

Really sorry to hear about your woes  Probably not going to make you feel any better when I tell you that I've just done the same job on the Derby's 1.3 and so, far apart from a small drop in the water level (hopefully due to some escaped air bubbles) Everything 'touch wood' seems ok. Thing is; my mate recommended I get the head skimmed despite the fact that the gasket hadn't actually gone or the engine overheated, the ali heads just gradually twist slightly over time - So I got it skimmed & the engineer who did it, did indeed say that it was slightly warped - which backed up what I could visually see using a straight edge. Did you get yours done before re-building it?? Well now, no pics yet....but I think I've got it sussed, wipped the head off last weekend, then popped it over to Bob Harman Performance in Watford, Bob himself skimmed it and proclaimed it fit for further service...back on in less than an hour and all is well.....  at last.. |
