Hopefully not too heavy OB, this is meant to be a track car after all. Sometimes I think I should've just put a bit of mild steel on the floor in my garage and started welding things on to it! Perhaps would've been quicker and easier!!!

Hey there Rod.
Its beginning to really take shape!
It will be an awesome weapon when done! What engine are you hoping to drop in there?
Rysz.

Hey there Rod. Its beginning to really take shape! It will be an awesome weapon when done! What engine are you hoping to drop in there? Rysz. I have an alleged group 'A' spec' 3.0 12v engine purported to have previously been owned by Gerry Marshall and Tony Lanfranchi. I think initially I'll stick the original engine in just to get it mobile then sort out the 'special' one. (It's been in a bit of a fire so is a little the worse for wear!) I think I'd REALLY like to put an SBC in it, but finances are dictating engine choice currently. Still a fair while in the distance though.

Happiness is being halfway through seam welding a brace onto your inner wing/chassis leg only to discover that part of the chassis is rusted through and you'd missed it!!!!!!! Dum-dum-dum-dum, dum-dum-dum-dum-dum, tiddle-do-de-do-de-do-do!! No pics as all I've been doing is welding and running out of wire.

Time for an update I guess. Hasn't been much in the way of progress recently, that old 'life' thing's been getting in the way a bit and on the odd occassion I had the opportunity to get into the garage, I either couldn't be bothered or just touched up some of the welding so nothing really looked any different. I'd run out of welding wire so yesterday I went into town at lunchtime to get some but all four shops that sell it had run out!!!! So I decided it was time to make a start on the other side. I've been scared to start it in case I mess it up, but I gritted my teeth and made a start. For some reason I'd expected this side to not be as bad as the driver's side. How wrong was I?.................... This bit was completely disconnected from the bulkhead and pulled away by hand. How this thing had an MOT with this lot I'll never fathom out................ This is starting to be a familiar sight in my garage. Large chunks of air where there should/used to be metal................ This was packed with underseal! This is a 'patch' I cut off the inner wing. You probably cant see it but there's four sheets sandwiched in there. Underneath is the pile of detritus I've pulled off it so far................. And here's the comparrison shot.................... Just to cheer me up a bit. I'm lovin' ma wheels! ;D That's it for now. I'll carry on the destruction tonight I think. That Big Brother thing's back on telly. Guess where SWMBO will be and I won't!!!

Big brother is in full swing, the women folk are entranced so hoping you've found some time to sneak off into the garage recently ;D Haven't had a lot of luck finding time resently Steve. I managed to get a little bit more of the rust cut out the week before last, but we were busy all the following weekend then I was down your neck of the woods with work then I had a water pump to change on SWMBO's Omega and brakes to fit to my Funtractor on the weekend just gone. I need to sort out a couple of things on SWMBO's car this week in anticipation of the impending MOT then I'm in Nottingham for a few days next week then down to Bucks's for a week or so's break after that. And I still haven't been able to find anywhere locally selling no-gas welding wire!! Sorry, I know it's a list of excuses, but it's all been unavoidable I'm afraid!! Note to self :- Must try harder.

Know exactly what you mean mate, life does get in the way sometimes! If you find yourself with a spare couple of hours when in Notts next week give me a nudge and we'll grab a beer

Due to a change in circumstance, (see the 1982 Monza thread!), I'm having to 'shelve' JAZ for a bit. My plans for her have changed dramatically. Don't worry, I'm not weighing her in or 'owt, she's just being sidelined. Need to get a tarp' as she'll have to live outside.

Zinc primer sealer is not waterproof though, best to use Lechler Epoxy primer, its waterproof and sticks to anything (even galv and ally).
