Look better than I expected to be fair. Looks like you have made a neat job of boshing them on. youve not seen behind them! had to get a bit messy with the angle grinder! that reminds me i must go and slap a bit of paint on the bits i had to grind.

little update! gave the car a good going over with the polishing mop and back to blacked all of the trim as it was looking a bit tired. Also fitted some different rims, though they are in need of a bit of a refurb (too cold for that at the mo cos i have to do them outside, the joy of having no garage and a tiny shed!) planning to paint the bonnet black and do something interesting to the roof soon! also hoping to replace the seats, lower it and fix the battery tray, (although i have don't a temp fix which has stopped water getting into the footwell) anyway ehough waffle, here the latest pic

I'm glad there are a few people who don't find them too offensive! picking some new seats up for it at the weekend as the std ones have seen better days

liking the lights now they are on , not entirely sure about the black bonnet look as the car looks really nice as it is ( especially as its in that blue ) and its been done so often now
but its your car and so far I don't think you have put a foot wrong considering what you started with.
If it were mine ( which it isn't) I would fit clear side repeaters put a little drop on the suspension and then start on the interior

Light travels quicker than sound. That's why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

the bonnet is a bit knackered and isnt the same colour as the rest of the car, well apart from the driver side wing, cos thats also the wrong shade! the rest of the stuff is all on my to-do list!

cheers for all of the positive comments, its something a bit different from the norm. i guess thats what i like about this website, there just so much variety and loads of different ideas to take inspiration from, something that cant be said of single make car forums, be it vws, J motors fords, whatever!

well I got round to finishing off the gearknob I started making before christmas: Heres the result: (pics are off phone so don't really do it justice! gonna rob my birds new digi camera I got her for xmas and take some better pics tomorrow!) this was the 1st time i had used a lathe in about 8 years, so i was reasonably pleased! might have a go at making some mirror adjusters now and maybe have a go at making a different shape gearknob for my other polo.

finally got the battery tray sorted! had much fun removing the fibreglass repair i did as a temp fix! once that was done me and my good friend denver set to work on chopping out the rot, there was pleanty of it! heres how it looked before the grinder attacked (cue shonky phone pic!) big hole (it got a bit bigger too but i didnt get a pic of it) once the rot was cleaned up, my main main denver set to work with the welder (not pretty but space was limited and i was reluctant to remove the dash even though it would have made fixing it easier. i was left to watch for flames, of which there were pleanty! think i would have prefered to have been doing the welding as the polo footwell isnt the most comfortable place to be! with it all welded up, i was left with the easy, if messy job of undersealing the tray, the top was ok, but it was a bit of a game to do the underside, could have done with being one of those circus types that squeeze into small boxes! finally i had to make a new drainage hole as it had previously been welded up by some numpty (i;m fairly sure this was the cause of the tray rotting out for a second time), this was easilly sorted with a big drill bit and a die grinder to enlarge the hole. another job of the list and my hand are now cut to shreds! not a big job by most people on heres standards (or the other guy down the garage, who is in the middle of doing a complete rebuild on a split camper. told him about the site so maybe he will post a few pics up!) next on the list are my newly purchased audi seats!
