I think I used a TPV8 www.newton-equipment.com/tank-vent-valves-inline-tank-valve-model-tpv8.html Pretty well as you say the valve is permanently closed unless a pressure of 0.725 PSI is reached which is about 500mm of water column and as fuel is lighter the column would be greater I am guessing here at 650mm so if your vent pipe went that high above the tank it would be about the equiv of the valve - athough - when messing about testing it I could blow air through the valve I but could not blow water through it. However the fact all fumes are kept in the tank it was worth it for that alone. The fuel tank must be full for the test IIRC If the tank mounting is solidly bolted - not straps - then its good as it has a mechanical and fixed earth path. ETA That You need to read the installation instructions for your type of valve - go to the newton site and there is a pdf download for the TRV67 68 which I think you have. From the instructions The two-ball valves are open to atmosphere so vapour can collect inside the vehicle. All installations should be piped to the outside of the vehicle or connected to a charcoal canister. The best way for tarmac vehicles is to run the pipe to the top of the body and then down to a point just below the base of the tank. The valve should be positioned as close as possible to the rear of the tank so that under braking the fuel load will move towards the front of the tank and away from the valve.

Looking at page 83 of this thread and as the valve is always open - with the high filler neck it looks like you could just fill the tank to a level where it would just run out of the vent and braking would just pour fuel out the back at quite a rate!(0.8L/sec) I think your vent pipe would need run to 500 mm above the level of the filler neck before going back down and out to a safe release point below the tank - A TPV8 in line with that valve up in the top of the boot area looks a good idea to me. Even if it is just for stopping the tank constantly venting fumes into the garage

Yeah the new filler neck messes things up a bit. Running a longer hose is simple enough and I can smell fuel under car near breather pipe tip so a sealed valve makes sense for that reason alone. How much was the valve?

Body is bent where wing mounts too Ho-hum, more work to do............ Damn, that is bad luck. Will it need a whole new arch or can it be repaired. It's an absolute cracker of a rod, a real inspiration for me to get going with a build. Top work, I'm sure you'll have it looking A1 again in no time.

Rear arch is already cut up and being bonded back together. Body is dressed out & primed ready for filler. Wing will neeed a fair old bit of work to get right - it really mashed it to a pulp

On top of everything else you've been doing... :/ Hope it comes together okay, definitely one of the most interesting builds we have going on at the moment.

Many thanks for the compliment - though I could do without this little bit of 'interest'

Ouch - gutted for you. How you keep going is beyond normal limits. Most would've quit but not you. We are all so much better off that you didn't. Can't wait to see this on the strip or used in anger.

Ouch!
Crunch. "WTF was that?" Get out and walk around to see damage. Reach for the swear word thesaurus and go through all of them.
Have a cup of tea and stare at it for a while.......then start stripping it down and get on with it.
Been there and have quite a few T-shirts so I feel your pain.

^^^^yeah that^^^^ apart from the tea. No staring - just took wing straight off when I got home and cracked on with it. First bit of filler goes on the body; And the jigsaw starts - first layers of glass laid on to hold it all in shape after grinding it all back; The other side - looks ok but will need grinding right back to repair properly. Stress cracks all ground out ready for new gelcoat.

never done repair of this type myself and feel free to tell me I am barking up the wrong tree...but isn't it the done thing to drill a small hole at each end of the stress cracks to prevent them creeping post repair?
I think I would have just said "sod it" and gone to the pub!!
