I have ground them beyond the end of the cracks, so no issues there. Bit more done tonight, rubbed down rear panel & got a second skim of filler on it - almost finished that bit hopefully. And ground out the top of the wing and blocked it down. First layers of repair matt going on here. Hoping to have the wing fibreglass repaired by the weekend if possible.

Couple more bits nearly ticked off. Original washer bottle is only approx .6 litre and regs demand a minimum of a 1 litre bottle. So a shiny red (matched radiator overflow bottle) 1 litre one was bought and modified to take a brass tube. Started to make the mounting bracket, but this could be tricky as no room to lift it out of a holder so some kind of latch mechanism will need to be used. Will see what the parts bin at work has to offer Another job was my breather hose out of the fuel tank. It exits via a rollover valve but I had it looped straight down, which now I have the higher filler neck would result in fuel leaking out when the tank is filled or under braking. New hose is much longer & loops up under the bootlid catch area before going back down to the original exit. I will add an extra valve as Darkspeed recommended as well - but this is not required for the test, the high hose is enough to pass.

I would suggest that gaffer tape would be better as masking tape degrades and becomes brittle over time.

I like the idea of using a standard aluminium bottle rather than getting one made. I will use this idea for the water overflow catch tank. Cheers.

How about using one of these? Or, perhaps, one of these? Around £1 each

Bike brackets are not big enough for this bottle - thats what I had originally. Sam, Thats exactly what I had designed in my head - good call. Parts bin has donated a nice spring loaded catch so will get some ally brackets rolled to fit with a small hinge hopefully today.

are the IVA ok with the fuel filler being in what could be a load carrying area? Sorry if you've already covered this one, in 100 pages it's hard to keep track

Sorry if you've already covered this one, in 100 pages it's hard to keep track The fuel filler is extended and sits flush with the boot, I think it's behind the number plate. IVA rules say "Fuel tank filling points must not be located in the passenger compartment, luggage compartment or within an engine compartment" I had thought of a plan to extend the filler on the Fugitive, so that a plate fits flush to the underside of the bonnet and just the filler protrudes through...... I thought I was really clever. I saw that photo earlier and realised it wasn't my idea at all

I've just caught up with this after a bit and I must say I really admire your perseverance. I would have thrown a massive hissy-fit and sold it all as an unfinished project, faced with some of the obstacles you've overcome. You're a role model to us all.

Too much time & money in the car to give up now.
As said above, the filler is sealed to bootlid and accessed behind number plate.

Parts bin raided and nice spring loaded catch with a hinged clamp now fitted. Needs coating/painting but I'm happy with it.

I love the skill and attention to detail you turn to something [potentially] as plain as a washer bottle.

Thanks Sam, I really enjoy the making of stuff. It's the modifying of finished bits that bores me - it's finished, lol.

Primer time today, jeez it's hot! 31.4 degrees c in the garage even with all doors & windows open. Good for getting filler & primer to dry though. All looks pretty good, few tiny spots require a little more filler but just about there.

Got a couple of coats of stonechip on the inside, only needs a couple of coats of gloss to be finished. Outside may take a little longer.....
