After a hillclimb there, the Sportklassiek members all bought themselves a cheap hillclimb weapon, so I couldn't resist to buy a parttime project too! I always loved 02's, and when this one popped up on the net, I immediately wanted to see it.. and bought it. The beast is a inka BMW 1502 from 1976; It was cheap, but why? Although it's solid, the tin worm got some grip on the bodywork.. and it didn't got a APK (the dutch version of the MOT); At total it's a very good car for that price imo! Had a dumbass smile from ear to ear when driving it back home. The suspension is boat'ish, it drives different, the exhaust makes a bunch of noise.. I think i'm in love But a project isn't a project when it doesn't has a to do-list! - getting MOT on it - Repair the window mechanism, it makes funny noises when I drop down the window - When it's summer, painting the tinworm places - Fixing small things I should come through - Fitting bike carbs - Fitting a funky camshaft - Fitting bucket seats - Chrome foglights on the front bumper - Things I did forget in the above list - Racing it on the hillclimb in 2008! ;D

The APK must be more stringent than our MOT for cars of that age... it looks pretty straight to me.
Also loving the 02s, it's one of the few BMWs (apart from a 507. M1 or E30) that I'd consider owning!
Didn't know they did a 1502, I thought the smallest they made was a 1602.

I don't expect funny things when it goes for the APK.. well, I HOPE The 1502 is, in fact, a back-tuned 1602. I thought they tuned it down by dropping the compression rate.. although i'm not sure. 1502's are easy to take apart from the rest of the 02's because they don't have those chromed strips on the car's sides, where all other 02's have them. mm.. m3 engines are lovely, but really expensive here.. a good engine does 1000-1500 Euros.. maybe a 2002ti or tii engine would be a better option

M3 engines are a similar price here, but its worth it as you will produce a car that is frightening rather than fun. An M3 engine with a turbo/supercharger should be utterly terrifying, therefor I make it my aim, you should at least modify a 2002 engine rather than throw money at a cooking 1502.

Today was the day of curse word jobs for the MOT/APK.. The leaf blower in the dash was dead, so I wanted to get it out. But with 02's, you have to pull out the heater unit.. curse word. But it must be done, so you gonna start.. The curse word: The problem: The previous owner made a mess of the electrics, and broke one of the contact points on the blower.. and the little engine was really untidy.. so, a bunch of wd40, oil, solder and patience later: Oh yeah, now it's working Gonna build it back inside the next day. Hopefully my new mirror arrives too, that's the last thing I have to replace for the MOT/APK. Finally.. mr. Jonkheers car collection

Hmm, I'm having trouble figuring out where Jonkheer lives... north of Amsterdam? I'll keep an eye out for the BMWs from now on.

Oh well. Last Monday it went for the MOT, and there were some points.. welding points. This was the problem: And the far lights didn't work continous. Easily fixed, the problem was the handle mechanics. This weekend I hired a co2 welder from Bo-Rent, really cheap! 30 Euro for two days, including a full bottle of gas and plenty of wire. So i started with flexing the rusty curse word off.. After some practising on scrap laying around here, I got under the car and started welding. i'm really pleased with the result.. it's hard to get that curse word welded properly when lying under the car and those sparks falling in your clothes The rest of the list for the MOT is the need of 4 new tires, a easy job. Let's hope it goes through now!
