so to run the bike carbs did you just have to have a manifold made up?

so to run the bike carbs did you just have to have a manifold made up? pretty much mate, bogg brothers made up the manifold for around £130 ebay provided the carbs which bogg bro's cleaned up and jetted to look like new, thats pretty much it...... for the power gained it was very very cheap! not many mods that provide nearly 25+bhp for around £200. i mean K&N filters cost around £70 and add virtually nothing  shame its such a complete curse word to start in the cold  |

Cool little motor. Love it when people try and screw as much power as they can out of a tiny engine!
I notice from your pics that you've not connected the choke up on the carbs (I put some on my 1.3 golf). I think that would improve your cold starting issues?

I think that would improve your cold starting issues? aye your spot on there mate, however new development over the last few days, ive managed to get hold of a proptotype manifold for the car that was developed by a compnay call AM tuning way back when, it seats two weber 36 DCNF carbs quote from the guy i got it from "AMG Tuning Twin Weber DCNF Racing Carbs (Prototypes)"  cant wait! the car this is from is a 1.2 currently running 94bhp! heres the RR graph to prove they work www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=6602662need to get a cam sorted next anyone recommend and good places for having cams profiled? |

i've seen these once before mate in germany which is probably where they were made but id expect there are less than 10 sets made ive been searching for these for nearly 6 years! and never found some until now... still the bikes carbs are still for sale on MSC |

was after £250 mate but there sold now i'm afraid was bombarded with offers whihc is good as i can justify buying the webers to the misses now lol |

my dad has a canadian K10, it's a '90, with the 1.2, 5 spd...I quite like it to drive, as i'm just learning, because in canada, you can get a 'learner's' license at the age of 14, but you have to have an adult beside you,...anyway, I love hte K10, and your car. I already have plans to super turbo my dads car |

thats been listed loads on ebay now mate and its missing so much (and thats just from my quick look) some mugs paid over 1k for that... you could get one imported for 2.5-3k that works. i hope they have alot of ST spares there gonna need em! |

ok so last night i went out for a proper drive in the car since the webers have been fitted, ive been benchmarking the mods I'm doing against my mates Polo GT 1991 1.3 which i felt was a reasonable target to aim for. anyway found some nice private stretch of road to test it out. now previously on the bike carbs the car couldn't really keep up with him very well at all, now however its almost to close to call, up to 80mph they are almost identical performance wise, however mine does go past him at about 80 after that i'm gone a 1.0 that keeps up with a 1.3 then beats it! and ive only done the carbs so far! got to fit the 4-2-1, ported head and cams yet! lol i cant wait! wonder what i can whoop next |

A wee update; unfortunaly it seems as if the alternator is going or gone as the battery light keeps coming on very dim, it seems the battery earth terminal is loose as well so I'm thinking it may be that not the alt. so this weekend ill be fault finding and possibly replacing the alternator I've also got some nice filters for the weber's here;  and a nice race 4-2-1 manifold to go on  I'm going to try and do that this weekend and clean the engine bay but my first priority is to get it running again and charging the battery (which I've replaced with a new one) bleeding old cars!!!! I love em |

Ok some action shots! so the alternator was boned! and curse word and covered in oil and god knows what;  pulled the old girl out for a nice modern version i had sitting in the garage;  performance is now much improved my electrical fault is now sorted, got a nice new battery as well so she's got her spark back! Next i decided to clean 18 years of crud away, before;  after!  and fitted my new filters;  hopefully Thursday the exhaust manifold will be fitted, as if it isn't already quick enough! more to come later! |
