Well recently our drive has been turning into something resembling an assault course replete with hefty potholes, rubble strewn semi-solid surfaces and a few mud canyons thrown in for fun.
I've also always quite fancied having a 4x4, just to see what it's like and to have a bit of a muck around with as I'm on my holidays at the moment so I'm quite enjoying trying different things out. - but the relative crudeness of a Landie (well, I'd love a mint S1) or a tatty Rangie didn't appeal...
Aslo, I decided that (logically) I needed something for smashing up and down in, hauling gear, engines and parts about in so on the whole, the things the Corvette just isn't really suited to (takes about 5 mins to weave the 'Vette down it, which is a tad irritating if I'm just popping out for milk, especially if the weather's cruddy).
So, spent a while trawling around till I found this fairly locally in North Laandan. Headed down there yesterday in, ironically, another Jeep to pick it up and blasted home in it!
It's the newest (egads) car I've owned, being a 1995 and has a relatively fresh 86,500 miles on it with 3 previous owners - a Jeep Cherokee!
I didn't actually think it'd be that fast but it's no slouch. It's a 4.0 Limited, so has the 176BHP straight six, which trawls out 300NM (220ft.lb) via an automatic 'box with switchable mode transfer case (like 2WD, part-time 4WD, full time, low). Does 60 in 9.2 and weighs just a shade over 1600kg.
Voila!
The (undamaged) interior - needs a thorough deep clean though:
Usual driver's bolster wear is not apparent on this one, it's lasted well!
Yay!
It's a bit of a riot........Being the Limited (and with an few mods) it's the top spec, so it's got (breathes) - aircon, electric windows, remote central locking, full closure, motion & tilt alarms, power steering, "high end" stereo, flip faced security HU, trip computer, external temp readout, vanity lights for passenger and driver, 4 map lights for front and rear, electric seats, overmats, dog cage, dog tray, tow bar (just need to refit the new ball)............All the toys!
I've got a few things planned for it - it's missing a bit of trim off the roof edge, so will refit that and order a set of new plates & an indicator lens as the rear one is broken.
It smells a bit inside as well (ex-dog carrier) so will be giving it a thorough valet and deep clean, get it all sparkling, and t-cut/wax the outside to bring it back to life as well.
I think I'll service it too, just to clear up any uncertainties but it certainly sounds sweet and pulls well.
Makes quite a good tank-like noise as well so pleased on that front and I have to say, it's remarkably quite and docile inside - feels extremely upmarket and high end.
I may take on Hirsts' suggestions and loose the pinstripes, get a sticky-roof flashing light, a CB radio and a few other minor details
Soooo tempted to take it through the woods next to us though...... Don't tell!
This is just what I need for picking up those elusive bits for the project I want to start soon, which will be most certainly more "me" ;D
