Me too! I wasn't even going carbs before I saw it, but then I had to have it and it all escalated from there  Yeah, i know, thats how things get started and out of hand! |

It's looking great Tom, I've stripped ours down and have pretty much the same level of rot as yours had. All the rear ends done so I'm sorting out the front end now...PM'd you.

 Well it's time to think about spray booth building now Hopefully I won't deviate into too much of a 'home improvement' type thread but its all preparation for the mk1  First step was to clean all the tools and curse word from around the mk1 so I could paint the floor as it was really dirty and oily. There's a bit more info in my 'spray booth at home' thread in general Squeezed the car between the derby and beetle on the other side of the barn. All about the tuck on 14s B) :lol:  Gave the floor a really good jet wash and scrub, tons of oil and power steering fluid from doing jobs for mates :angry:  Without it turning into too much of a DIY thread the floor got a couple of coats of paint and is SO much better now  Tonight we set most of the frame of the spray booth up and returned the mk1 to a shiny new home!  Only shortly though as its now back on its 'spiritual' home, the mattress :lol: :lol:  Few bits need touching up and then I want to paint it all before it gets rolled over for the proper job. Need to get a move on really as I'm back to uni in a month :unsure: |

Just a bump to save this getting lost... I'm back at uni in Edinburgh now so things have come to a halt. Have brought the Webers up here to rebuild with the correct jets and paint and polish etc but not touched them yet. Kind of enjoying a break from cars for a bit after working on em so much over the summer. The polo is under the tarp at the back, looking like it's not going to get any attention for a while! The restos on my friends freshly imported 58 Karmann Ghia and the 57 Beetle are well underway though (they have chassis's somewhere!)  |

Hi there you look like your going grate guns with your little polo, well done you, i have a polo to but its a mk2 polo s and i just seen what engine you have for yours and i really want to do the same sorta thing with mine and was just wondering if you know if the head fits strate on the 1.4 engine or is there any mods that need to be done and will it fit strate in to the engine bay?

@ www.polo86c.nl are some guys with a 1.6 in a mk2 polo and a polo with a 1.3 G40 diesel  and also a few with bike carbs on the engine And loads of polo mk1 owners also a few mk1 polo GT's |

buzz, this thread www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=13935 has all the answers on using the bigger bottom ends in the earlier polo's. In a nutshell, yes it fits the polo heads and yes it fits straight in the engine bay ghopmeister - there are some fantastic projects on that website! when I don't have as much uni work I will spend some serious time looking through them all! I would really like to see the G40 diesel if you have a link? |

I had actually hoped for one of the prototype 2 cylinder diesel supercharged engines, but that is interesting enough actually. |

what ever happened to the mk1 polo??? did it ever see new paint or did the aircooled VW finally take over completely? |
