Well a bit more progress at last ;D I decided to machine the halfshafts down as that will leave me with the most brake disc options in the future And that allows golf 239mm discs, cossie calipers to fit under 13" CX`s so when the new 13" wheels come I`ll have loads of room ;D Just need to do some caliper mountings now and we are there !!! I can get the axle case cleaned up, a few brackets and stops added, blasted and into paint ;D I was down the barn last night to empty my van in readiness for a trip up to Warks again this weekend to collect the rest of my stuff. I have had a gearbox in the back of my van for ages, its been stripped, inspected and reassembled ready. Its a 6 speed with really close ratios, and is more available than the type 9 will become in the future I think. There are a number of variants with different bellhousings and ratios, different rear end housings too, so they look to be a really good choice for the future. And they should be interchangeable with one another ;D So I thought I`d have a quick look on the bench with a spare short motor ;D as I want to make an adaptor plate to mate this to the Sigma motor. I`ll probably do a few while I am at it, as I reckon it could be done for similar money as a Type9 Bellhousing ;D Anyway...... this is what it looked like Rather happy with that ;D

That gearbox looks so long, looks like the gearstick would end up in the back seat! ;D

Gear lever position is within 1/2" of existing bellhousing and type 9 combo Remember it's on a bare block so the proportions are a bit out too

Cheers, I hope to find out sometime this year....... It was fun with 38hp at the rear wheels ........... I think with 220-250hp and 750kg it's going to be a bit of a handful !! Not had a chance to do any more as I was collecting the bike and the rest of my bits from Phoenixcapri and then trying to get them unloaded this end. Work on the shell should start again soon, and I am hoping to get a chance to play with the new TIG over Easter

Well still havent got the TIG out of the box But Have been clearing space in the shed at home to get it set up in there, along with a load of other stuff sorted out. Manflu and Family stuff has taken up most of my time lately, but I have got some news to report...... Firstly a nice box of strengthening plates have turned up from germany for the front crossmember / wishbones ;D I have brought an AP Racing 71/4"Clutch which may or may not work, we`ll see when it gets here, if not it`ll go back on ebay I`m researching epoxy primers for post blasting paintwork too And more importantly......... work has restarted on the shell ;D ;D ;D shonky cameraphone pic below Cheers Dom

The case of that gearbox looks very much like the MSG-5 gearbox my Vauxhall Midi van. I was surprised to find that in Oz Chevettes were badged Holden Gemini and run 4CZ1 isuzu engines and MSG gearboxes like my van. Good ol GM parts bin.
I'm in awe of your build, looking forward to future updates

Just a quickie AP Racing clutch has arrived It'll need new plates to suit the 6speed but it's an alloy cover unit and it was cheap enough !!

Shell progress is awesome news! ;D It is indeed, I`m going down to see it later or tomorrow so I`ll get loads of pics. I`m really pleased that its progressing, as it means I don't feel so bad about not being able to do anything on it myself..... Life just seems to keep getting in the way at the moment
