Well I went down to see the car tonight and discuss the next steps ;D So I thought I`d snap some of the work too Lubor made all this rather than use the "Repair panels" as he felt he could do a better job Pedal box mounting now fully welded in Rear lwr 1/4 panel, again from scratch So As you imagine, I'm pretty pleased with that ;D Back down there tomorrow to make a proper jobs list, there will be about a weeks delay as they are back working on Ecotricity again but that`ll give me time to find a front panel and make some decisions re arches

Me and my dad are restoring my kadett city too atm. and i know your pain. my dad fab'd his own headlamp surrounds etc etc. and my uncle made his own wing mounting rails from scratch for his HS, because the rep panels were shocking.

Some pics as promised Pedalbox area is now finished, complete with a mounting point for a FBW throttle The car had been involved in a little bump at the front at some point in its life, so the front panel was a mess of filler and had been ravaged by tin worm. Also the front crossmember was a little bent too, so I looked for another front panel, which are about as common as the proverbial poor quality wobbly children's play pony do do, and when they do come up............. They are €500ish !!! So I looked for an alternative Riesse motorsport in Germany do most of the kadett panels in GRP or carbon, so I thought I would try one of their lower front panels And get Lubor to fabricate a nice lightweight, bolt in crossmember too I also wanted to be able to run sill stands on it for service and wheel changes etc, so I got some tubes and strengthening plates added while we were at it ! So there we have it, small but significant steps towards a finished shell ready for blasting !!! Cheers for looking Dom

It allows you to just jack up under the diff and front xmember and lift the whole car with 2 jacks. Stands will be 570mm high so enough room to drop a gearbox out easily.
Also allows me to use a bilstein quick lift jack in the tubes to lift the car on too.
Stands will also be a bit trick as well, let's put it this way......... They won't weigh much, they won't rust, and there will only be one set like them anywhere ;-)
Cheers for all the positivity folks, it really does help keep the enthusiasm going for it.
Next on the list is rear arch repairs and probably new engine mounts on the chassis to allow room on the exhaust side for the drysump pump Cheers Dom
Edit: sorry Andy, the tubes are just in the sills, they don't go right through to the tunnel. I've already got the seat tubes in and mounted, although they may come out for some nicer ones yet ;-)

Loving this thread!! The Wilwood pedal box is a work of art, compared to my home brewed affair in the Manta. Just a question, are you using a servo / servos with this set up? I am running an early VW Polo servo coupled to a VW Golf master cylinder. If the servo should fail, then I'm a bit buggered as there just isn't any available. With the planned re-birth of the Pulse8 Manta, I want to upgrade and the Wilwood set up looks ideal.

Well put it this way, they don't need to be made from what these will be made from, but this was part of a deal/work I did at the tail end of last year. I could get a set done in steel though as the design is done ;-) They are available from a load of different places already. Cheers Pete No servos on here, and it will be quite a heavy pedal as its only a 5:1 ratio but the car should only weigh 7-750kg so should stop ok

Was it a full one or just the rear? Its a full cage, 6 point bolt in, with Diagonal, rear stays modified to pick up on the Turrets rather than on the wheel arches. I`ll get Garys number for you and stick it in a PM
