Hello this is my first post to introduce you to my old mk2 hilux
many moons ago about 10 years or so.. I bought this
2.4d toyota hilux before its cheap respray by the former owner its was living on a farm for the first 10 years of its life. This was later to come back and haunt me.
I spent the next 10 years adding bits details below.
having fun..
heading out to the sahara. no really!
And ending up currently with this look.
I say currently as it only last's for about 1 to 2 years with any one look. Although the way it's looking at the moment is sticking with me. cause its been three years like this.
the details:
2LT 2.4 turbo diesel engine (hilux surf type) it's third plant it had.
Land Cruiser 3 core rad to keep the prone 2LT from overheating. including electric fan and switch to make sure.
small lift around 2" on the springs just enough to clear the tyre's and not spoil handling. (iron man springs)
32" goodyear MTR tyre's
4.10 gears in the axles to compensate for the larger tyre's
Detroit Lockers limited slip mechanical locker in the rear axle. (No clutch plates to wear and no need to use LSD oil)
Fibreglass one piece bed and front wings. (current weight with 1/4 tank of fuel 960kg) Corners like its on rails with little body roll. Also when taking the old bed off it practically fell apart due to its history of lugging cow dung in its former life. (very acidic).
Procomp shocks ES6000 did have Ironman but bent them.
Procomp steering damper did have Ironman but crushed it.
Braided brake lines.
2" inch straight through exhaust system (to be upgraded to 3" as this was fitted when I had the old n/a engine)
The Interior is still in construction but have added gauges and buckets seats.
originally the truck was based off a prerunner theme and developed with aussie style.
The future will have new graphics of a rat inspired theme but this is proving difficult for me to finalise on a design without looking like a beetle or ratrod copy.
Also its been a daily driver all its life.
Finally
Cheers to celicav8 for posting my pics of the santapod main event and convincing me to post the truck on the legendary forum.
wish the pics were a bit bigger but couldn't workout how to do it as yet.
