Cliff, you're the mental bloke who is building that reshelled 200SX aren't you? That looks like muchos work. Fantastic idea. When you finish it I guarantee you could sell it to someone in Japan for a fortune...

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

Good work Widget, rip the interior out – everything – and get cutting. And banded steelies would rock the casbah. The ideal is the same width as the diameter!!

Ok, who knows about Austin Princess or Embassadors? I hear they have 14" steels that look like Allegro rims. Can anyone tell me how to get 14" steels and caps that look like the OEM Allegro items? Maxi?

Maxis have 13's, the same as the allegros. The closest you can get in the BL range are the 14in ambasador rims, but you would have to adapt them to take hub caps as they have silly plastic caps as standard. Not sure whats available on the trummy 2000 range but i know they fit, as well as J stuff. Heres the ambasador rims on my dads car. The blue one has the alloys, the sandglow one has the steels, both 14's. These are about the limit on a maxi, simply because of arch space, but allegros have much bigger arches.

Nice info - cheers man. Nice Maxis too. My old man had a sandglow one. It got written off in a hit and run....

I could well be wrong here, but I got talking to a nice old chap at a local show last year and I, as some of the members who've posted here are, was under the impression that Allegros and Maxis both used 13" wheels. The old chap who owned the car told me this was not the case, and the Maxi has 14 inchers - he'd had to search to find a spare hubcap, I asked if an Allegro one would fit and he said no, it's an inch too small for a Maxi.
And the best bit is they look EXACTLY the same as Allegro rims.
Someone with a Maxi check, but I'm convinced that that is the case.

Both allegros and maxis came ALL with 13's across the entire range, princesses and ambasodors had 14's. Allegros had a very slighly less offset to the maxis but look identical. Hub caps were the very same too. See the above pic of my dads cars, as fitted with 14 inch ambasodor rims

Got one N.O.S quartic in blue (wall plaque for the spare room) and one brown lightly used quartic wheel which is now on the Retirement Rocket steering column.
Glad you're enjoying the project. Should be amusing.
