I had just opened the bonnet and one of them shouts out "those wheels are curse word!" whilst nudging his work college I kindly reply "that's is the idea mate" giggling to myself. His faced changed to a slightly confused look from the previous "I'm well happy with my last comment" look as I began to transfer the intercooler and turbo from the boot to under the bonnet to help size up for rad options. had to laugh along with you there.

Did some more work on the old girl tonight, mainly concentrating on the conversion to injection from a carb set up. As can be seen it the video above I plugged up the bare minimum just to get it running, today I tidied a few things up. The supply wire for the main fuel pump needed to go through the boot floor so I got out the old dye grinder and got busy Next thing on the agenda was to cut out the bulkhead to pass the injection system loom through as I had just layed it all over the top of the bulkhead as seen here I had to mate the ecu loom to the non injection mk2 polo loom as well as passing wires through the bonnet release cable hole for the earth and feeds for the injection lift and main pumps. I have used all original vw wiring from an mk3 polo injection to try to keep things under the bonnet as factory looking as possible. Quite suprisingly there were some holes for the ecu carrier plate and some threaded holes for the ignition coil already on the car (totally different than a mk3 set up) More progress pics tomorrow

a little update, more to come later today if I get time Engine space is so tight that I have had to relocate the oil filter!! Not normally something you have to do a 4 cylinder engine in a car that uses a 4cylinder engine as stock. The reason being is the equal length exhaust manifold ran way too close to the oil filter for my liking As you can see above the take off plate, the centre two branches of the manifold swoop down close to where an oil filter would be so the oil filter has been relocated with a remote filter housing..... to the front of the drivers side inner wheel arch which fits in behind the plastic wheel arch trim nicely. directly underneath the filter housing is the thermostatic take off plate for the oil cooler.......... which will be fitted underneath the front bumper, not exactly stealth but it'll get lots of airflow and to be honest, it's about the only place I can fit it without getting in the way of the intercooler or radiator The added bonus of all this is that i'll have increased the oil capacity of the engine (not by masses but every little helps) what with the bigger golf oil filter and all the pipework etc etc. The oil cooler could not really be in a better position for cool air but obviousl6y I run the risk of a stone going through it which i'm willing to risk

Re: your oil filter, do you know that Mk3 PizzlE items are much shorter than Mk2 ones? Mine runs one for that reason

No, it was for sale but after enduring all the standard "will you take 54p for it mate?"s I decided to keep it It's currently enduring daily hackery and has just done 2 trips to France and back.

I'm thinking about losing the front bumper like this mk2 has A) because it looks good IMHO B) it'll get rid of some weight and C) it'll help aid the efficiency of the rad and intercooler I purchased a hole cutter from B+Q which went blunt straight away which was rather annoying. You can see where i started to cut on the far right directly below the red quattro badge that james put on for a giggle I will replicate a big rectangular hole to the left of the original three and add small additional holes inbetween them, i'll also add 63mm holes slightly below but inbetween the rectangular holes along the black line you can see in the above pic You can just about make out the white chalk line that outlines the position of the front bumper so with it on you will not see any of the holes at all

Cheers robin.
I have decided to leave the front bumper on as it will go against the whole sleeper idea and it only weighs 6 kilos anyway

I played a little more tonight but not that much I marked out the holes and then cut them I borrowed some hole cutters from a mate and they weree useless as well so I ended up having to drill round the inner edge of each hole before die grinding up to the outer line, proper pain in the aris Should get loads more air to the rad and intercooler now, even with the bumper on
