had to sell my volvo 850 t5 but still needed a cheap estate so found this volvo 240 DL on ebay with a years T&T, bargain. not one to drive around in a 'normal' car for long there are changes afoot just need to find time to paint it rover russett brown, apply roughly 7 miles of fablon and get creative with the roof, also need to find some lowering springs, might find some free ones in the garage in the grinder box, also need to paint the wheels and find some 14" white wall flaps. so all in all i've done nowt so far! had fun potatoshopping it though!

Thats a tree-mendous idea. I think you have run rings around everyone elses spud chopping ideas.
I thought I wood chip in with my two penny worth. Theres not mulch wrong with your ideas and at least you wont need blocks to lower it, when you hit it with the stick.
I might be barking up the wrong tree when I say that you should branch out and make the changes.
Also you should register the "woodride" trade mark as i think it will be poplar.

I thought that it seemed a shame to over-do such a clean car, so I've done a more traditional version: There's moon discs on this one, but it looked just as good on black wheels with whitebands. Cheaper too! ;D

I wonder what would happen if you remove all the plastic trim from the lower part and paint it body colour, would make it look really low!

I left that other thread after making a rubbish joke about dog stickers and dog guards. I'm so glad you have come up with summat so creative. the big block of wood idea would be ace! do it! a few tweeks but the overall sceme is wikkid so long as teh stuff does not crincke should be fine. any good at airbrushing?

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I like the original idea, though I think the flowers and chessboard roof push a good idea that would look really great dangerously close to being a bit silly - well maybe not silly but certainly a bit "busy". If the car is going to be brown then why not have a lighter brown vinyl roof? I`m sure some Cortina Mk4s used to be like that years ago.

its all meant to be a bit tongue in cheek my roots are in the vdub scene, rather that retro racing hence the styling that some may find a bit ott. the whole concept is a nod to the aircooled mob and the fact that if the engine were in the back you could add a 0 to the end of the value for scene tax. the non 'silly' bit will be done first anyway then i'll take it from there

I think i like it all. for me the woodwide bit would be smaller or just made as badges. wheels should be sourcable from Volvo's back catalogue, some cleaning/swapping features, it will be ace. Volvos are lovable just because of what they are. Just as cool as any old VW Vic had an idea for an alternative. vinyl roof it, than go with a wood side panel like above. whatever happens, i can't wait to see it done

if u can pull that look off then its gonna be a superb car man, ur photshop skills are wicked, that wood looks like its actually on the car already. what about getting some chrome letters and writing wood ride across the back but spaced out like on the back of mustangs etc.

for me the woodwide bit would be smaller or just made as badges. wheels should be sourcable from Volvo's back catalogue, the woodride logo is going on the bonnet (at the mo) i only put it on there for folks to see wheel wise i have had a look and the steels are offering themselves to be painted 2 tone brown and cream.
