Couple of upholstery pics Yep, glad it is not longer, but I was prepared o shoe horn a VW LT28 Schoolbus in there. Had 45k miles, one school owner, FSH and I wanted to make a camper of it. Must say, I am pleased about the Audi myself, Tomorrow I start pressure cleaning, and trouble shooting, indicators, wipers and dim/bright not working at the moment.

Well, cleaned up a large part of the common with my pressure cleaner today, but it also allowed me to get my car on the ramps, and get the wheels off, and pressure clean the whole underside, as well as the engine bay and every chrome strip/rubbing strip and window edges, as well as geting all the moss off all the window rubbers etc. The car is remarkably intact, and I did remove a load of old mud and crud from everywhere. Tomorrow off to look for a wicker picnic basket for the rear load area at any bootsales I can find. Madmart PM'd that he may have 14inch Passat steelies for me...... ;D I am pretty pleased with the outcomes, and at least now know where the holes are in the bodywork. Pics as description. (note, there is an AUDI 80 at the end of my rainbow)

PS: I am looking for a Free or extrememly cheap "longboard" surfboard. That someone is not using, or has no use for..... back of shed, or on woodpile etc. Board has to be intact, not necesarily surfable...... think 6inch nails and roofrack. To go with the theme developing in my head for the Audi. I live in Kent.
Please PM with details.

I do love summer...... Getting dark later every day, oh, and hot or warm.Just came inside after taking Audi's load bay mat out, scrubbing twice and rinsing once with warm soapy detergent. Also cleaned all vinyl, and other synthetic surfaces, Dyson vaccumed every aspect, and took something called "CLEAN GREEN" by Wynns which I have yet to see in the UK, it is also Bio degradeable, and cleans pretty much any surface without damage. Then also CIF and again followed by two wash downs with fresh water, now the grubbyness seems to be a lot better. Final session was to take some Simoniz Dash and surface cleaner and pretty much rub down every surface in the car. LOOKS GOOOOOOOD !!! Even I am pleased. Not sure th ebefore and after pics really show the difference before the dash spray. BEFORE. AFTER. Loadbay area.

;D Great motor and love that colour, missed this when first posted and now I see where your going with the picnic-hamper/surfboard ting.. or ski's... gonna be super low? Either going 15's off a G60 in steel, or if I were to find stupidly priced, or similar in banded 13's, I would consider lower, but one thing I have no intention of with this specific car, is to cut anything, so unless it is bolt off, bolt on, even the suspension, it stays like that. Thanks for the Subaru link today as well AUX.

Started polishing the bumpers tonight with WENOL, a German metal polish. Some effort, but results speak for themselves. As said before, 30 years old, expect some work. Pic of the dash after final polish. Bumper Before, part showing after. After. Dash

Well tonight I only spent a little time with the car, and also unpacked the "Pandora's Box" that came with the car. Found some interesting bits, but also found that I need a much better owners manual, or such for the Audi 80 , it seems it will be a universal one...... so, who has one to sell, or knows where I can lay my hands on a cheap intact copy ? The one I have cleary was soaked in water at some point, as all the pages are a unit, and has been partly torn open before I got it. Car was said to have a stainless system, so the paperwork sort of confirms that, system seems intact as well. Anyhow, as you can see, I took a piccie for those like me who like the bits and pieces. I also found the fuse box, cleverly hidden behind a brown panel bodged in with some small self tappers. Reason for that is that the wipers do not work, but the winscreen wash does. The indicators were fast marching on both sides before, so I undid the relay, and refitted it, which got the drivers side working, but passenger rear still dead, redid the relay 2x 's but no cure, all the fuses are intact, have not moved and cleaned the fuse setup yet. Checked rear indicator bulb..... intact. The other bits that do not work are dim/bright, but one can flash bright continually, at one point the dims worked on the switch, then stopped, that only the flash lever got any light. Hooter works, rear lights work, reverse lights non functioning, but only had ignition on, not engine running, so maybe it needs to be running for reverse lights to work. PS: So what I would love to find, is the green "Instruction manual" Anyhow..... the adventure continues. Pandora's Box.

the reverse light should work with the ignition on , the engine doesn't have to run. There are two wires in the area of the windscreen washer bottle, disconnect them and bridge them, if the reverse lights work, then the switch at the gear box is damaged, buy a new one, should still be available....

Yes, I've found it. My spare only goes up to 1975 but I can photocopy you all the Chapter 14 supplement pages for later models (76-79).

when you take it for a spin for the first time be prepared for the big bang which happens around 140km/h (dunno what miles that would be)
at that point the pressure difference on the roof is so big it clunks into a diferent position..
scares the hell out of you when your not prepared...
btw maybe the audi version has a strengthened roof, but don't think so..

Well, the weekend came and went..... I was up inOxford to help Claire move from storage where she has been a month, and living with her parents , while she was waiting for the rental house to get vacated. 5 white van loads of furniture and wibblepoo later, we used the van one more time to raid a charity shop warehouse.... a great result and weekend. Claires dad gave me a steering lock for the Audi, as he does not need it anymore. Claire gave me a nice old picnic blanket to go with the other bits I have collected so far. On the way back, I popped in at Kevins place (B1G VR on VWcaddy.com forums) to pick up the wheels I bought from him, with VW centre caps, they are 14 inch and in the same style as the G60's I wanted. There are 185/60's on, but I will investigate them later in the week when I have time. I want to get them sandblasted, and epoxy coated in Beige, or else I will sandblast, primer and spray them myself. It is part of my cunning plan to change the looks of the car without actually butchering it. Below is a few pics, with and without centre caps, just had to trial fit when I got home ;D ;D ;D ;D The car could certainly do with some stick, looking at her right now. FREE Steering lock. The wheels. 14inch with 185/60's Centre caps..... I need one more, or more than one, as one is damaged. RIMMMMZZZZZZZZZZZ With those centre caps....... Opinions ??

Hmm. Those rims would look rather smart widened, and refurbished, with either crome caps, or no caps+black painted centre (just that part that the cap would cover) Just need "teh st1ck" now ;D
