Heres my new little beauty... Started ripping out the inside and converting it to pillar-box red and various bits of fake fur. Gonna go for satin black with a white side-strip, lakepipes and fat old white-walls Any ideas

piccy no worky
I love these, my folks had two, both maroon. One with a prototype two tone leather interior. They might even have some bits still, ill ask. I know they used to have alot of trim and MINT NOS enamel badges. We did have a brand new engine, never run, used on the ford motor show stand when they were new but that got sold a few years back.
I keep getting tempted into a mk2 consul or a mk3 zephyr (sp)

Nice! I'm into these, everytime i see an old street machine with a red and white pro street style one, i always decide i need one just like that! cant find a pic right now though. unsure about welding doors up, i think this one did, not sure yours should though...

its a tough decision on the doors. clean lines are almost a must but would be alot of (irreversible) work!

nice consul, why not just de handle the rears? will look like a 2dr but is reversable fairly easily plus you can still get your mates in the back

i wouldnt 2 door it unless you stretch the front doors, always looks odd because the front doors are too short.
Nice car though, is that a fibergalss visor? One of my folks had a metal one, but i seem to remember it fitting better than that.
Has it still got vacuum wipers ;D

I don't think this is the exact one I had in mind (that i'd seen and lusted after in an old street machine), but as close as i'm gonna get without rummaging through these boxes! Closest thing to it. I really need to build summat like this in my lifetime, its still a 4 door too! are these (old consuls) costy to get hold of these days? and is rust a major issue like usual old fords?

there not as expensive as zephyrs or zodiacs for some reason, but they are going up in price. The second one we had had been stood in a garage for 20 years, but started with fresh fuel/bat and never had welding and didnt need any. It was £175, but that was about 8 years ago now.
Both the ones we had had no rot issues at all, maybe we were lucky. They are made from thicker steel than later fords but I'm sure they usually rot.

Yeh it is a fiberglass visor...came with it tbh. it does fit pretty tight though. and yes they're still vacuum wipers!

Rust wise is just the usual traps...but as with most old fords, everythings pretty accesible and new 'old' parts are readily avaliable...even fiberglass panels!!

W00, fantastic. i really would like one of these as a long termer fast cruiser project. pretty much the value i expected. it will fit into the master plan somewhere. I had a bit of a 4 door phobia, but stuff like these look fine IMO Ooooofff! I'm hooked on getting one now!
