hello again guys and girls , heres a few pics of my kadett.bought it in 98ish for £20,been off the road since 99 and since then it's had the following bits of work done (bearing in mind i've got no garage,i've moved house twice and I still get the old "you fiddle with that old thing more than you fiddle with me" line ........ perserverance is the key !!)
BODYWORK - complete genuine opel front panel, pattern front wings, both outer sills, arches + lower corners replaced. doors + tailgate replaced with better 2nd hand ones. (anyone got a decent bonnet?) 2 brand new bumpers sourced.
SUSPENSION - completely stripped, shotblasted +powdercoated/painted.all bushes replaced with superflex ones.gas shocks fitted,50mm lowered springs + new spring rubbers fitted.
STEERING found a kwik-rack kit for sale in the back of retrocars for £50,bought a 2nd hand late chevette rack and had my friendly local steering rack company put the two together.its sitting in the loft waiting for fitment.
BRAKES - all renewed from the master cyilnder backwards, fitted aeroquip hoses in place of the standard rubber ones.
ENGINE - standard rubber band 1.2 until it goes pop....
INTERIOR - had a couple of grey checky recaros in there which I dragged out of a mk2 cav many moons ago but they're looking a bit tatty so not sure what to put in.saw a nice copper coloured chevette at billing with the yellow tartan recaros in it (out of a manta?) and that looked quite good....replaced opel dash with chevette one just to be different, fitted hs dials into it(rev counter).got really nice original black vinyl door cards for it so will have to replace the saggy ripped stained (don't ask) headlining with a nice black one.
WHEELS - did have a set of 13inch 4 spoke revolutions which I was gradually getting blasted and powder coated but they never really filled the arch that well, saw a pal of mine at billing who had a set of 5 white manta 14inchers with new tyres ,£65 the lot ? I couldn't resist. still not 100% on them but it does look a bit better with a bigger rim. now what on earth am I going to do with a nice set of freshly refurbished 4 spoke revos? ;D
EXHAUST fitted ashley chevette 2inch system, cracking quality but back box looks curse word.thinking about sticking small universal stainless box on there instead...
and I think thats about it up to now ! apologies if the pics either don't come out or they're toooooooo big . comment most welcome.cheers !
