I've done absolutely sod all to this worthy of an update but yoeddynz reckons it's
International Viva Week so here we go. . . . . .
From December '09 then. .
The footwell kickcards ( or whatever the hell they're callled ) were a bit flimsy/warped/dog-eared so I thought I'd replace them .
Looking round the spare room I found an old Ikea picture backing which looked to be of similar material and thickness ..
..draw around your knackered old cards..
..cut them out with a jigsaw whilst your GF/Wife/Mum is out and hey presto..
I've since sprayed them with some matt black aerosol and they look pretty good tbh , well pleased with them.
The door seals were pretty poor too ( the ones that actually fit on the door itself ) - split/perished/full of overspray
Old wifey a couple of garages up was having a clear out and would I like any of the stuff she was throwing out ? In amongst which turned out to be a new ,boxed door seal - a Ford one but I thought it was fairly generic so may have come in handy somehow
Difference is it's the type of seal which fits around the aperture rather than on the door .. but I figured as long as it worked as a seal it would do until I found a decent Viva one .
So I bashed it on and tbh it works really well -
The wheel nuts were looking a bit skanky , they've been on for six years now ..
..so I got Dave - Firenzaboy off this here very forum - to make me a new set .
Then asked if he could make me a new set of locking nuts - he could - so those arrived a few weeks ago -
The wheels have been blasted/powder coated and I cut down the aerosol lid/centre caps to a less comical size
Also fitted some clear dice valve caps - my pink shoelaces are in the post.
And done -
Decided to change the number plates too . Fancied some pressed ones instead of perspex and also fancied a square front one . Don't see many Vivas with square fronts so at least it's something slightly different although hardly ground breaking..
^ got them off an Ebay seller but tbh the quality was a bit poor , few too many air bubbles in the first plate I got - asked for another one to be made and it was slightly better - I'm sure they're okay , it's probably just me being fussy .
The front bumper already had different mounting holes to take a square plate . Dunno if they all did tbh or whether I'm lucky but it saves trying to drill through it
Measure twice , drill once etc ......
Offered up and yep - I likes it .
The boot currently looks like this
..never did get round to mounting the subs behind the rear seat but I will finish that off some time soon .
Got the interior back in although it needs a hoover/polish
..and whacked on a new chromey oil filler cap thingy so hopefully when I open the bonnet it takes me eye off all the overspray
( I doubt it..)
I've managed to lose a mounting bracket off the front bumper but I've got a complete spare bumper tucked away at work .Just need to dig it out , refit it nd we're just about good to go..
I'm definitely taking this down to RR 11.
Probably.
