Mmm, 318iS, properly envious, I love E30 BMWs, figured the best way to mash up my estate/E30 fetish was an E30 Tourer as I mentioned in my "Hello" post. Tis good fun, but a little lairy to drive. I'm quite happy with how it's handling now, but it certainly keeps me on my toes! I'm too lazy for BBS though, I've had a set and they took ages to clean. A set of splitties would be awesome mind.

I'm not paying too much on insurance now I'm with a specialist, but yeah it's group 16 so I'd be paying a fair bit less on a GT or etc.
Quite happy with reliability too, people get all sorts of problems with these, but I got a good engine from a really meticulously maintained car and forked out for lots of new parts before fitting it, so it's given me no problems. I did 13,000 miles between the transplant and its first service in my hands (July 05-July 06) and didn't have any engine problems to worry about. Not bad especially when 4,000 of those were driven in 4 weeks back in June in a heatwave, largely in traffic and largely in Kent which is warmer than Cardiff (would've LOVED air con for that month!). Got me to work and back every day (50 miles) with no grumbles and rumbled back to Cardiff every weekend very happily.

HAWT! Only the killer insurance and mpg and obscene complicated-ness puts me off. RESTECP Killer street-sleeperness though. Which is why I want one, but i'd be too scared of killing a charger (having test driven one previously that someone on a polo forum subsequently bought then had the charger grenade!!!!) Good to have a fellow Dubforce user grace these pages

HAWT! I reet fancy one of these, and have done for a long time! Only the killer insurance and mpg and obscene complicated-ness puts me off. RESTECP Hey pog, I had a G40 as my first 'performance' car - had 1 year NCB from the Golf Driver before it, went on elephant.co.uk and got it insured for £550. Not too bad for a 21 year old living in beiruit! Loved it to bits, they're really not complex engines (exactly the opposite, it's an ancient engine design with a charger bolted to it) and they're pretty easy to work on. I changed the charger on mine using a few cheapie tools in half a day. They need a bit more servicing than a regular polo but nothing too extreme, just a bit of noodle and not driving it when bad noises start - for example a knackered fuel pump rapidly leads to melted pistons! MPG is fine until you go crazy with the fun pedal but a sensible G40 owner doesn't rag it everywhere.... i did, hence finding out how difficult it is to change a charger! I used to get low 30's out of it on an everyday basis, high 30's down the motorway, mid twenties if i had a place to be I thought i'd lost the itch for another one, but driving the mundano home last night i saw a polo come flying up behind me.... foglights - check. beesting - check. badge on grille - check, but it's dark so still might be a GT. LHD - it's gotta be! overtook me with a really nice low drone and was gone, G40 for sure You can import a left-hooker from ebay.de for a pittance.... £900 gets you a roadworthy stock one. I sold my UK one for £1300 and it needed work straight away, two front wheel bearings, brakes all round, few blobs of rust. Anyway, Krupa - welcome! Recognise the car from porka.net, always admited the colour/rim/trim combo on there. Good to see you on here, car is looking good as always!

Hehe, I'm slightly envious of the G40 tbh.lol. E30 tourers are great. Guy i speak to has one with a 3.2 evo engine in it!
Cool, yeah bbs are a pain to clean but worth it. Yeah, id love a set of spitties too. Golfs, polos, e30's etc really suit em. But the wheels you have are nice.
