Hi there! New(ish) here! This is my new motor. Currently laid up in my lockup for a service and to keep it out of the winter salt! Its only done 70k miles from new! ;D Bodywork needs a little TLC in the form of dings and bits, but amazingly there IS NO RUST! Checked everywhere! Plans are to tidy her up and then just drop her a wee bit on some cool rims and then enjoy the pure 80's tastic interior This is my Daily driver....... Trampdrift Carlton. Rusty but trusty ;D Welded diff.... no interior at all really, some stiff shocks and springs. Will put up a thread about it if deemed retro worthy Shes coming off the road in mid december for some much needed welding and also some jiggery of the pokery kind! Will get some decent pics of the Mk2 ASAP

Nice. The sales rep at my Dad's company in Devon uses a BROWN Carlton estate! How cool is that?! A retro rep...

GET THOSE FLIES DONE UP NOW RWELFARE!!
What a great looking barge. I like the drifter too. You should take it out in Wolverhampton with a black bonnet and scare some revellers. TAXI!!

Nice looking old barge, a rare sight on the roads nowadays! Sounds like your planning to do what MrSigma has done with his wagon Be well interested in the drift-mobile too, get a thread going!

Hello Mr BC chap. Nope havent made a formal announcement on TC, although a few people do know. Really want to get the paint sorted, and it running right before unleashing it on the world. Plus I don't want to bring it out in the salt! You going to the RR meet tomorrow? Still havent seen your Monza in the flesh yet LOL @ the comments Mk2 Estates are coooooooooool. I nearly bought one of those as well until I checked my bank balance!

Is the 2.2 CIH-engined while the 1.8 and 2.0 are the same as mkII/III Cavs?

hello Mr Sigma... yeah it was the one on TC Penski..... both 2.0 and 2.2 were CIH.... 1.8 was family 2 as per Cav mk2 / 3 and most 80's 8v vauxs Gotwood.... Euro is my favourite style....

Arrrr - the Mk1 Carlton has got me all bleary eyed & nostalgic It reminds of my mates 2No 'Karman Rot' 2.2 Carltons that my mate had at the time when we had all just passed our driving tests & learning our way into the big wide motoring world. At 18 - tooling around in a RWD car with a relatively potent 2.2l engine under the bonnet was pretty cool - especially since it was lowered (substantially) over 17" Multispoke wheels & with a VR6 Golf front splitter, centrally parked single wiper & deep sun strip making it looking like some retro Bathurst racer. No1 Carton's engine seized - No2 Carlton secumed to the usual strut turret rot Your Mk1 Carlton looks in great condition - I love the really comfy velour interiors The drift Carlton looks as hard as nails aswell, perhaps get to see it later on at the Bed/Herts/Bucks (can we extend it to include N'hants?) R-R meet?

Itsn't it a mK2 not a mk1, the Mk1 had that odd nose on it like a Mk1 Cavalier, but odder.
What is this TC you folks talk off?
Good to see you over here ColonelK.
Any of you Carlton lovers know Chris from Kent who has apparently now got a barn full of these things? He's also well into his FDs.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts
